Performance Max Optimizer
Purpose
Improve Performance Max campaigns through better goals, conversion values, product or service structure, asset groups, audience signals, search themes, feeds, brand controls, budgets, and business-level analysis.
When to Use
Use this skill when Performance Max has unstable ROAS or CPA, unclear traffic quality, weak assets, mixed product economics, poor feed quality, limited scale, or overlap with other campaigns.
Inputs
Useful inputs: campaign goal, conversion actions, values, budgets, bidding targets, asset groups, product feed, listing groups, search themes, audience signals, brand settings, channel insights, and performance by product or category.
Workflow
- Validate goals, conversion values, and bidding readiness.
- Separate products or services when economics, geography, budget, or creative strategy materially differ.
- Review feed completeness, listing groups, asset groups, audience signals, search themes, brand controls, and URL expansion.
- Diagnose performance by product, category, asset group, search insight, and conversion value.
- Improve inputs before tightening targets or reducing budget.
- Test major structural changes separately and allow enough learning time.
Output
Always provide Performance Max diagnosis, goal and value review, structure recommendations, feed and asset fixes, search-theme notes, budget and target actions, and test plan.
Common Mistakes
- Using one campaign for products with very different margins or goals.
- Treating audience signals as fixed targeting.
- Scaling weak measurement or feeds.
- Judging performance only from aggregate campaign ROAS.
