Update Specification

Your goal is to update the existing specification file ${file} based on new requirements or updates to any existing code.

The specification file must define the requirements, constraints, and interfaces for the solution components in a manner that is clear, unambiguous, and structured for effective use by Generative AIs. Follow established documentation standards and ensure the content is machine-readable and self-contained.

Best Practices for AI-Ready Specifications

• Use precise, explicit, and unambiguous language.
• Clearly distinguish between requirements, constraints, and recommendations.
• Use structured formatting (headings, lists, tables) for easy parsing.
• Avoid idioms, metaphors, or context-dependent references.
• Define all acronyms and domain-specific terms.
• Include examples and edge cases where applicable.
• Ensure the document is self-contained and does not rely on external context.

Preserve Closure & Self-Containment

The spec is executed cold by a zero-context agent via /goal. Every update MUST keep it closed and self-contained:

• The whats: requirements, acceptance criteria (Given-When-Then), and data contracts stay measurable and testable.
• The integration hows: any newly implied decision (placement, wiring, ordering, lifecycle, concurrency) is made explicit with concrete file:line anchors. Never let an update introduce an implicit decision a cold agent would have to guess.

Living-Document Role in the Closure Loop

This skill is the maintainer of the managed ## Design Gaps section during arbitration:

• When a gap is accepted: fold the agreed decision into the relevant body section (§3 Requirements / Constraints / Guidelines, or the section the gap concerns), then remove that DG-NNN entry from the Design Gaps section. The decision now lives in the spec body; the gap is gone.
• When a gap is dismissed: remove its entry; persist nothing. Cross-run re-litigation of dismissed gaps is accepted by design — do not keep a ledger.
• After arbitration the Design Gaps section MUST be empty (heading + managed comment, no entries). A clean document is the end state.

Only close-design appends to the Design Gaps section; only this skill removes from it on resolution. Never reorder or rewrite entries by hand.

The specification should be saved in the /spec/ directory and named according to the following convention: spec-[a-z0-9-]+\.md, where the name should be descriptive of the specification's content and starting with the highlevel purpose, which is one of [schema, tool, data, infrastructure, process, architecture, or design].

The specification file must be formatted in well formed Markdown.

Specification files must follow the template below, ensuring that all sections are filled out appropriately. The front matter for the markdown should be structured correctly as per the example following:
