Every Master Positioning
Positioning framework for Every as the parent brand. Sourced Aug. 19, 2026 from the
final working edit of the Every Brand Book and its approved one-page strategy. This is
the current ruled canon for company category, promise, system, integrity, audience, and
positioning. Voice execution ports to brand-voice/every-master.
When to invoke
- When defining or refining Every's master brand position
- When a strategy skill needs parent-brand context
- When evaluating how a sub-brand relates to the master brand
- When writing "why us" in any launch narrative — the master brand is the why-us
The ruled strategy stack
- Company category: Every is a media and technology company.
- One goal: Pioneer the future of work with AI.
- Customer promise: Learn to work with AI as fast as it changes.
- Active position: The must-have subscription for anyone who works, or wants to work, with AI.
- Business system: Ideas + Software + Education, connected by community; enterprise brings the system inside companies.
- Integrity mechanism: The Frontier Team, Every's applied AI lab. It uses, builds, tests, and runs increasingly rigorous evals before Every recommends.
- Business logic: Builders create credibility. Operators drive subscription scale. Executives drive enterprise.
- How we operate: We live in the future. We write what we see. We build what's missing. We teach what works.
- Enduring invitation: We've crossed into what comes next. Here's the way through.
The operating values are:
- The world is made, not given. What we make helps determine what comes next, so we are responsible for it.
- Ideas and action make each other better. We use, build, and test before we recommend.
- Choose what creates more possibility. Fear and criticism contain useful information. We favor hope, generosity, and ideas that give people something to act on.
- Technology should expand human agency. AI extends human work. Judgment, taste, responsibility, and the decision to make something new remain in the human realm.
- See for yourself. We are trailblazers. To report back from the future, we need to go live in it.
The position
The mental slot to own (Ries & Trout): The must-have subscription for anyone who works, or wants to work, with AI. Everything that muddies that slot gets cut.
The promise behind the position: Learn to work with AI as fast as it changes. Every has a complex business and sells one clear customer idea: ongoing learning at the speed of the frontier.
The macro frame: After Automation names the future Every is helping shape. Automation is coming to almost every industry. Every works on what comes next while there is still time to shape it.
The landscape: Each adjacent category sells one piece of the answer: information, software, courses, or advice. Customers have to assemble the system themselves. Every connects ideas, software, education, and community in one subscription. The Frontier Team feeds it; enterprise brings it inside companies.
Three core positioning claims: (1) Our business is complex. Our promise is simple. (2) We know because we do first. (3) One company and one subscription keep the customer learning as AI changes.
Archetype and essence
Creator-Magician — the Creator's drive to build and self-express, plus the Magician's promise of transformation. Motto: "If it can be imagined, it can be created." Core desire: things of enduring value. Greatest fear: mediocre execution. Brand-as-symbol: Hermes — messenger, guide, trickster; god of thresholds. The four-perspective identity: Product = Praxis · Organization = Lab · Person = More Knowledgeable Other (a mentor who's also a troublemaker) · Symbol = Hermes the Guide.
Core identity elements: Praxis (theory made usable — we use this stuff for real, not for demos) · Play (the method, not a metric — trickster energy, the willingness to follow what's interesting) · Editorial Authority (the filter, the taste; discernment as the discipline — value as much in what we exclude) · Generative Optimism (hope over fear, building over criticizing, future over past).
Brand essence: Praxis and play at the frontier of technology — living and working with what's next, then making it useful.
Audience architecture
- Builders: Technical founders, engineers, and hands-on product leaders already working at the edge. Promise: "Know what's possible before everyone else." Every's role is the Frontier Team, its applied AI lab, plus a community built to test what comes next. Builders create credibility now and may support paid evals, alpha testing, and early-access programs over time.
- Operators: Director-level and senior functional leaders turning AI into better work inside a company. Promise: "Be the AI guy." Every's role is a learning system that turns ideas, software, and education into repeatable practice. Operators create badge value and drive subscription scale.
- Executives: CEOs, other C-suite leaders, and heads of major business units accountable for organizational adoption. Promise: "Make AI real inside my company." Every's role is a transformation partner that brings its learning system inside the organization. Executives create authority and enterprise revenue.
- Seekers: People who know AI matters but have not committed to learning it. They remain an audience to watch rather than a core segment. Culture and accessible entry points should earn their free subscription and help them become operators or builders.
- Evangelists: The desired relationship state across audiences. They signal taste, ambition, and active participation in the future of work.
Brand and business architecture
Every is one company with one subscription. Ideas, Software, and Education are the core subscription components. Community connects them. Enterprise brings the same learning system inside companies and may be the customer's first relationship with Every; after the engagement, the subscription keeps the company learning.
Every remains a branded house. Argument-led products sit under the master brand. Master-brand credibility flows down, and each surface makes every other surface more credible. The system moves in every direction rather than forcing every customer through one funnel.
The descriptor ladder
- Company: Every is a media and technology company pioneering the future of work.
- Customer promise: Learn to work with AI as fast as it changes.
- Active position: The must-have subscription for anyone who works, or wants to work, with AI.
- System: Ideas + Software + Education, connected by community; enterprise brings the system inside companies.
- Integrity: The Frontier Team is Every's applied AI lab.
Use the shortest layer that does the job. Do not describe the whole company as an applied AI lab or replace the customer promise with an inventory of business units.
Voice pointer (executes in brand-voice/every-master)
Hermes personality: the Translator, the Guide, the Trickster. Four tone registers — Lucid (default), Kinetic (launches/Studio), Intimate (essays/camps), Wry (commentary/ social). Per-surface governing verbs: Media translates, Studio produces, Consulting guides, Education equips. Signature constructions: the both/and, the practitioner's receipt, the reframe. The full we-are/we-are-not table and vocabulary codes (reach-for and avoid lists) are in the deck, slides 57–64.
