Keep:

Cross-Platform Corroboration

This is the most important filtering step. When the same development appears across multiple sources, it is the strongest signal in the research.

Deduplication

When the same event appears across multiple sources:

• Keep the most comprehensive primary source
• Note all sources where it appeared (this IS the corroboration signal)
• Prefer direct announcements over secondary coverage
• Note which trade publications ran the same wire story — this is syndication, not independent corroboration

Step 4: Categorize & Analyze

Synthesis Principles

Ground every claim in the research. Do not inject knowledge the research didn't surface. If you know something the research didn't find, flag it explicitly as context and distinguish it from sourced findings.

Cite sources precisely. The value of multi-platform research is surfacing what practitioners, consumers, and regulators are actually saying — not what press releases claim.

Weight cross-platform signals highest. A story appearing in Insurance Journal AND discussed on Reddit AND announced by the carrier directly matters more than one that only appeared in a single trade outlet.

Consumer sentiment is signal, not noise. When Reddit threads on r/LifeInsurance or r/personalfinance register strong opinions on a product, carrier, or coverage type — that IS competitive intelligence. Quote actual comments.

Regulatory pipeline items are the highest-value forward-looking content. A proposed NAIC model law today is a compliance requirement in 18–36 months. Include it prominently in the Horizon section.
