   Screen size, installed fonts, WebGL, canvas rendering
   Creates unique identifier without cookies
   Harder to prevent than cookie tracking

5. METADATA
   Who you call, when, for how long

   Bluetooth devices you pair with

Essential Settings

Settings > Privacy & Security:

Tracking:
  - "Allow Apps to Request to Track" -> OFF
  This prevents all apps from tracking you across other apps.
  Most impactful single setting on iOS.

Location Services:
  - Review each app, set to one of:
    Never: Apps that don't need location (games, calculators)
    While Using: Maps, weather, ride-sharing
    Always: Genuinely needed (Find My, fitness tracking)
  - Precise Location: Turn OFF for apps that only need general area
    (Weather doesn't need your exact GPS coordinate)

Analytics & Improvements:
  - Share iPhone Analytics: OFF
  - Share with App Developers: OFF
  - Improve Siri: OFF
  - Share iCloud Analytics: OFF

Apple Advertising:
  - Personalized Ads: OFF

App Privacy Report:
  - Enable to see which apps access location, camera, mic, contacts
  - Review weekly, revoke unnecessary access

Safari Privacy

Settings > Safari:

  - Prevent Cross-Site Tracking: ON
  - Hide IP Address: From Trackers (or From Trackers and Websites)
  - Block All Cookies: OFF (breaks too many sites)
  - Fraudulent Website Warning: ON
  - Privacy Preserving Ad Measurement: ON (allows anonymous attribution)

Private Relay (iCloud+ subscribers):
  - Settings > iCloud > Private Relay: ON
  - Hides your IP address and browsing from network observers
  - Two-hop relay (Apple sees your IP but not destination,

Lock Down Mode (for high-risk users):

  - Blocks message attachment types

Monthly App Audit

Step 1: List all installed apps
  iOS: Settings > General > iPhone Storage

Step 2: For each app, ask:

Location Privacy

Minimizing Location Exposure

1. App-level controls
   - Set most apps to "While Using" not "Always"
   - Disable precise location for apps that don't need it
   - Weather app doesn't need GPS precision -- city level is fine

2. WiFi and Bluetooth scanning
   iOS: Can't fully disable without turning off WiFi
   Android: Settings > Location > WiFi scanning: OFF
            Settings > Location > Bluetooth scanning: OFF
   These scan even when WiFi/Bluetooth are "off"

3. Photo metadata
   iOS: Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Camera > Never
        Or strip EXIF data before sharing
   Android: Camera settings > Save location: OFF
   Photos contain exact GPS coordinates by default

4. Check-in and location sharing
   - Avoid social media check-ins
   - Review who has access to Find My / Google sharing
   - Turn off location sharing when not actively needed

5. Cell tower tracking (harder to prevent)
   - Your carrier always knows your approximate location
   - Airplane mode stops this but kills connectivity
   - For extreme cases: Faraday bag when not in use

Device Encryption and Physical Security

iOS:
  - Full disk encryption enabled by default with any passcode
  - Use 6-digit passcode minimum (alphanumeric is stronger)
  - Enable "Erase Data" after 10 failed passcode attempts
