Linking Strategies

Atomic Notes

Each note should contain one idea, concept, or piece of knowledge. This makes linking precise and reusable.

# Survivorship Bias

Survivorship bias is the logical error of concentrating on entities that
passed a selection process while overlooking those that did not. This can
lead to incorrect conclusions because failures are invisible.

Link Types

Use different linking patterns for different relationships:

When to Link vs Tag

• Link when two specific notes are directly related (Note A references Note B)
• Tag when a note belongs to a broad category (#project-management)
• Both when the note is related to a specific note AND belongs to a category
• MOC when you need to curate and organize a collection of related notes

## Graph View Optimization

### Making the Graph Useful

The graph view is powerful but can become noise. Optimize it:

1. **Color by tag** - Assign colors to key tags (#moc, #project, #person, #concept)
2. **Filter by tag** - Focus on specific topic clusters
3. **Use local graph** - View connections for the current note only
4. **Create hub notes** - MOCs and index notes create visible clusters
