What P-Values Mean

• P-value = probability of observing data this extreme (or more), assuming H0 is true
• P-value is NOT the probability that H0 is true

Common Misinterpretations to Avoid

1. "p = 0.03 means there is a 3% chance the null hypothesis is true" - Wrong
