Improve eBay Listing
Dispatch a critic subagent for unbiased review, present suggestions, apply what the seller picks.
Input
User specifies which listing to improve (directory name under listings/, may be passed as $ARGUMENTS). If not specified, list available directories that have listing.json and ask.
Steps
Read
listing.jsonto understand what's being reviewed.Use the
listing-criticsubagent. Set the working directory to the listing directory. The subagent has its own system prompt, tools, and model — shipped by this plugin underagents/listing-critic.md, or loaded from.claude/agents/listing-critic.mdif installed standalone.Present the subagent's numbered suggestions to the seller exactly as returned. Do not filter, reorder, or editorialize.
Ask the seller which suggestions to apply. They can pick by number, pick all, or decline.
Apply selected changes to
listing.json. Use the Edit tool for targeted edits — never overwrite the entire file. Preserveebay_urlandebay_item_idvalues exactly as they are.Run validation:
python3 ${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}/../ebay-prepare-listing/scripts/validate_listing.py listings/<slug>-<YYYY-MM-DD>/listing.jsonFix any errors and re-validate until it passes.
Show the seller what changed — a brief diff summary.
Rules
- The critique must come from the subagent. Don't critique the listing yourself — you created it (or have context from the creation conversation), so you're anchored to the original choices. The subagent approaches it fresh.
- No marketing fluff in any rewrites — factual language only.
- Don't invent problems. If the subagent says the listing is solid, report that. Forced improvements make things worse.
- Never delete or overwrite
published.json. It's the record of what's live on eBay. If it exists, the listing has been posted — treat it as read-only. - Preserve posting state. When editing
listing.json, never clearebay_urlorebay_item_id. These link the local listing to the live eBay item.
Schema
Read ${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}/../ebay-prepare-listing/schema/reference.md for the full listing.json schema.
