Introduction Writer

Writes and repairs the introduction of a journal article, thesis chapter or proposal, the section where most desk rejections are decided, by building five moves in order (the problem in the world, the gap as a limitation rather than an absence, what the paper does, what it finds with numbers, the contribution) and by diagnosing an existing introduction move by move before rewriting a line of it. Enforces an explicit research question stated in the introduction, hypotheses that carry the story, numbers copied from the finished results rather than recalled, and hyperlinked author-year citations that all appear in the reference list. Use this skill when someone asks to write the introduction, says the intro is weak or too long, asks about the opening paragraph, the motivation, the framing, the gap statement, the contribution paragraph, "why does this matter", "how do I start this chapter", or when an editor or reviewer said the framing or the positioning was unclear.
