Pitch Deck
Overview
A pitch deck is a visual argument. Every slide should advance the case for why the audience should care, believe, and act.
When to Use
- Investor / fundraising pitches
- Sales or solution pitches
- Partnership or alliance proposals
- Internal executive pitches for major initiatives
Classic Narrative Arc
- Problem / opportunity
- Why now
- Solution
- Product / how it works
- Market and customer
- Traction / evidence
- Business model
- Competition / differentiation
- Team
- The ask and use of funds / next steps
Principles
- One idea per slide
- Lead with insight, not features
- Make the “why you” unmistakable
- Use evidence over adjectives
- Design for both presentation and leave-behind reading
- Keep the core deck short; put detail in appendix
Verification
- A listener can restate the core opportunity and ask after one pass
- Each slide has a clear job in the argument
- Claims are supported by credible evidence
