Procedure
- Identify multimodal neurons Action: Find neurons that activate for both visual and textual versions of concepts. Why: Multimodal neurons reveal cross-modal learning. Note: See paper for details.
- Analyze neuron responses Action: Study what visual and textual inputs activate each neuron. Why: Reveals learned concept associations. Note: See paper for details.
- Debug alignment quality Action: Use neuron analysis to identify misaligned or biased representations. Why: Representation analysis reveals data quality issues. Note: See paper for details.
- Connect to training data Action: Trace neuron behavior back to training data patterns. Why: Links representation quality to data quality. Note: See paper for details.
Parameters to set
- analysis_depth — Role: Depth of neuron analysis. How to set: Analyze top neurons per concept. Default/range: Top neurons. Effect: Deeper analysis reveals more patterns.
