When this skill activates
Apply this skill when the user wants to:
- Assess or evaluate an AI agent/system against AIUC-1
- Understand their compliance posture or identify gaps
- Prepare for AIUC-1 certification
- Generate a list of required evidence artifacts
- Determine which AIUC-1 requirements apply to their system (scoping)
Core concepts to know
Use the requirement totals and domain counts from the active version in references/aiuc-1-spec.md (these may change between quarterly releases).
Requirement status: Mandatory (must implement) vs Optional (recommended).
Capabilities/scoping: Requirements apply based on the AI system's modalities:
Universal— applies to all AI systemsAutomation— applies to agentic/automated systemsText-generation,Voice-generation,Image-generation— applies only to those modality typesExternal-facing— only when the system is user-facing (not internal-only)
Review frequencies: Some controls must be reviewed quarterly (every 3 months), others annually (every 12 months). Quarterly controls are higher priority.
Assessment workflow
Step 1 — Scope the system
Ask the user (or infer from their description):
- What modalities does the system use? (text, voice, image, automation/agentic, files, code)
- Is it internal-facing or external-facing?
- Is it a third-party AI product or a custom-built system?
Filter all requirements in the active spec version to only those that apply. State: "X of Y requirements apply to your configuration."
Step 2 — Run the assessment
For each applicable requirement, work domain by domain (A through F). For each requirement:
- State the requirement ID, title, and whether it is Mandatory or Optional
- Ask the user whether the control is implemented (if they haven't provided documentation)
- Classify: Met / Partial / Unmet / N/A
- For Partial or Unmet: note what is missing
If the user has provided documentation (policies, architecture docs, test reports), review them and classify without asking.
Step 3 — Produce gap analysis
Format the output as a table:

Follow with:
- Summary: X Met, Y Partial, Z Unmet out of N applicable requirements
- Mandatory gaps: List all Unmet/Partial Mandatory requirements — these are blockers for certification
- Optional gaps: List Unmet Optional requirements — recommended improvements
Step 4 — Evidence checklist
For each Unmet or Partial requirement, list the specific evidence artifacts needed. Reference the Controls & Evidence section in references/aiuc-1-spec.md for the exact artifact types required. Format as:

- [ ] C002 — Pre-deployment test results for latest release
- [ ] E015 — AI model activity logs (30-day minimum)
Step 5 — Remediation priorities
Prioritize remediation in this order:
- Mandatory requirements with quarterly frequency (highest urgency)
- Mandatory requirements with annual frequency
- Optional requirements with quarterly frequency
- Optional requirements with annual frequency
For each gap, provide a concise remediation recommendation (1–3 sentences).
Output formats
Full assessment report — Use when the user wants a complete evaluation. Domain-scoped assessment — Use when the user specifies a single domain (e.g., "assess our security posture"). Evidence checklist only — Use when the user needs to prepare for certification. Scoping analysis only — Use when the user wants to know which requirements apply before committing to a full assessment.
