Q Decision Making

A set of techniques for making better decisions. Most bad decisions come from hidden assumptions, emotional attachment, or only seeing one perspective. These techniques surface what is actually driving your thinking.

When to use this skill

  • You need to choose between two or more options
  • You feel attached to one outcome and want an honest check
  • You are about to commit significant time or money to something
  • You want to stress test a decision before making it

Techniques

Parallel Conversations

Runs the same idea through three completely different perspectives simultaneously. Most people have one conversation and think they have the full picture. They have one third of it.

Assumption Audit

Surfaces every assumption your decision is based on and stress tests each one. Most bad decisions come from assumptions nobody questioned.

Time Machine

Shows you what your future self would think about this decision in 6 months, 1 year, and 5 years. Forces you out of present moment bias that clouds most decisions.
