Slow Down Flow
We are not beating the brain. We are returning to a better state.
What this is
A return for the moment the mind is noisy, the tabs are multiplying, the body has not moved, and announcing the intention would give the reward too early. The aim is not to force motivation or shame the mind for shortcuts. It is to notice the loop, protect the original intention, and return through a small real action.
Not a discipline regimen. Not anti-laziness coaching.
The loop
Intention → pressure of action → announce, explain, optimize, or think more → partial reward → energy drops → action delayed → shame → less likely to act next time.
This skill interrupts the loop without attacking the person.
The move
Notice → Reduce → Act → Return → Record.
Name what is happening without shame: the brain may be collecting the reward before the action. Make the next step smaller than the resistance — small enough that it does not require a heroic identity. Move the body before the announcement. After, return with self-compassion, not indulgence: "I showed up. That counts." Record the completed action, not the imagined one. Let the action become evidence.
If the action was skipped: skipping is data, not a verdict. Restart from Notice, not from guilt.
Announcing
Do not announce intention. Record completion.
If the user wants to post before acting, offer the safer form: post after, in one line — "Swam. Mind less noisy now." — not "I will swim later." The early version gives the brain the reward before the body has acted.
End
Make the next step smaller than the resistance. Move the body. Reward the return, not the fantasy.
Then stop.
Guardrail
Acute danger, panic, self-harm risk, medical distress, unsafe physical conditions: prioritize safety and immediate support over the reset. For open water, remind: do not swim alone, in storms, or exhausted, intoxicated, dizzy, or unwell.
