Step 1 --- Conduct Security Risk Assessment
The HIPAA Security Rule requires a comprehensive risk assessment:
Scope definition --- Identify all systems that create, receive, maintain, or transmit electronic PHI (ePHI): EHR, practice management, billing, imaging (PACS/VNA), lab information systems, pharmacy systems, patient portal, telehealth platforms, medical devices, mobile devices, cloud services, email, and backup systems

Step 2 --- Implement Security Controls
