Social Content Pillars
Context
Use this skill to generate monthly content calendars, content strategies, or post templates for social media across one or more brands/platforms.
Trigger phrases: "content calendar," "social media strategy," "content pillars," "monthly posts," "social media templates."
Extended Instructions (includes content-strategy)
Step 1: Define Brand Voice
- Per brand document: name, industry, target audience (age, interests, platforms), 3 voice traits (professional, casual, witty, educational, inspiring, provocative, empathetic, authoritative), topics to avoid, visual style.
- Voice reference card: "[Brand] sounds like [person] talking about [topic]. We always: [2 rules]. We never: [2 rules]."
Step 2: Content Strategy (from content-strategy)
2a. Define 3-5 content pillars (MECE), each with: name, description, percentage allocation (sums to 100%), target keywords, 4+ topics for the quarter.
Example: Educational Tips (40%), Industry Insights (25%), Behind the Scenes (20%), Social Proof (15%)
2b. 90-day editorial calendar: blog posts, emails, social teasers, downloadables with publication dates and KPIs.
2c. Measurement section: Define success metrics for each pillar.
Step 3: Set Content Pillars (original)
- Define topic ideas for each pillar with 3-5 topic ideas.
- Map pillars to platforms: Instagram (visual/Reels), Twitter/X (timely/threads), LinkedIn (long-form), TikTok (trending), YouTube (deep dives).
Step 4: Generate Monthly Calendar
- 30-day table: Date | Day | Platform | Pillar | Format | Topic | Status.
- Frequency: Instagram 4-5/week, Twitter 1-3/day, LinkedIn 3-5/week, TikTok 3-5/week.
- Batch by day: Monday=educational, Wednesday=insights, Friday=personality.
Step 5: Post Templates
- Caption structures per pillar:
- Educational: Hook → Context → Numbered tips (3-5) → CTA
- Industry Insight: News reference → Your take → Implication → Question
- Social Proof: Result with numbers → Brief story → Lesson → CTA
- Hashtag strategy: Instagram 20-30, Twitter 1-3, LinkedIn 3-5
- Engagement hooks: "Most people get [topic] wrong. Here's what works:", "Unpopular opinion: [contrarian take]"
Step 6: Repurposing & Scheduling
- Repurposing matrix: LinkedIn article → Twitter thread → Instagram carousel → TikTok → YouTube
- Scheduling: Batch-create weekly, schedule 1-2 weeks ahead, leave 20% slots open for reactive content
Constraints
- NEVER post identical captions across platforms
- NEVER use > 2 emojis per line
- NEVER buy followers or use engagement bait
- Pillars MUST be defined before calendar generation
- Pillars must be MECE (mutually exclusive, collectively exhaustive)
- No pillar should have fewer than 4 topics in the quarter
- Every post MUST have clear purpose (educate, engage, convert, build awareness)
- Always include a CTA
- Always include measurement section — how will we know if this worked?
