When to use
Use this when a creator needs a concrete growth plan — not tactics in isolation, but positioning, content pillars, a realistic cadence, and the metrics that prove it is working. Good at any stage from 0 to mid-size.
Not for: writing individual scripts/titles (use the cc-* content skills), paid-ads media plans, or one-off "how do I go viral" answers.
Method
- Define the niche and the viewer transformation. Who is this for and what changes for them? Decision point: if the niche is "everyone," pick a wedge — a specific sub-audience to win first.
- Set positioning: the one sentence that says why this channel over the alternatives.
- Choose 3-4 content pillars — repeatable themes that serve the niche and give you a near-infinite idea supply.
- Pick a sustainable cadence and format mix. Decision point: fewer high-quality posts beat a burnout schedule; match cadence to the creator's real capacity.
- Design the discovery engine: which platform/format drives new reach (usually short-form or search) vs. which deepens loyalty (long-form, email). Route new viewers toward the owned channel (email).
- Set a 90-day milestone with 2-3 leading metrics (not just subscriber count): impressions, click-through, average view duration, and email signups.
- Schedule a monthly review to double down on top performers and cut dead pillars.
Example
Niche: home-cooking for people who "can't cook." Wedge: absolute beginners intimidated by recipes. Positioning: "cooking explained like you've never held a knife." Pillars: (1) technique basics, (2) 5-ingredient meals, (3) fixing common mistakes, (4) grocery/tool guides. Cadence: 3 Shorts + 1 long-form weekly, weekly email. Engine: Shorts for discovery → long-form for depth → email for retention. 90-day milestone: 25k views/mo, 6% CTR, 1k email subs. Review: monthly, cut the lowest pillar.
Pitfalls
- Chasing every trend with no niche, so the algorithm and audience never learn what you are.
- Vanity metrics (follower count) over leading indicators (CTR, view duration, signups).
- An unsustainable cadence that causes a burnout gap and a cold restart.
- No owned channel (email), leaving all reach rented from one algorithm.
