Steps
1. MCP connected (preferred — this is the whole point of the skill)
Call mcp__seobase__semrush_backlinks with the domain. Report authorityScore,
backlinks, referringDomains, referringIPs, linkPower, and the top anchors
(anchors, already capped to 50 by the tool).
Flag anything that looks like a spam signal: a handful of anchors accounting for a disproportionate share of total backlinks, or referring-domain count far lower than raw backlink count (link-farm pattern — many links from few domains).
2. Not connected
There's no honest free-tier substitute for a real link index. Say so directly: WebSearch can surface a handful of visible mentions/citations at best, not a link-graph authority score. Don't fabricate a number.
