Competitor Analysis
Research a competitor's positioning, keyword footprint, and backlink profile. Free-tier uses WebFetch/WebSearch; connected to the Seobase MCP, the keyword-gap and authority-gap numbers are real, not inferred from page copy.

/competitor-analysis example.com competitor.com
Steps
1. Positioning (always)
WebFetch both homepages and pricing pages. Compare: core value prop, target customer, pricing model, feature list, anything explicitly claimed as a differentiator.
2. Keyword gap (MCP-enhanced)
If connected: mcp__seobase__semrush_organic_keywords for both domains (or
mcp__seobase__dataforseo_ranked_keywords as a supplement/fallback). Diff the two
keyword lists — keywords the competitor ranks for that you don't are the gap; keywords
you both rank for show head-to-head positioning.
If not connected: WebSearch a handful of category terms and note who ranks where —
label this as a rough sample, not a full keyword-gap analysis.
3. Who else is competing
mcp__seobase__semrush_competitors on your own domain often surfaces competitors the
user didn't name — worth a mention if a stronger challenger shows up in the results.
4. Backlink/authority gap (MCP-enhanced, no free-tier equivalent)
mcp__seobase__semrush_backlinks for both domains — authority score, referring
domains, referring IPs. This is real link-graph data; there's no honest WebFetch
substitute for it, so if not connected, say so rather than guessing.
