SEO Audit
Comprehensive SEO analysis of a website. Works with public data out of the box, and uses live Search Console, Bing Webmaster, and Semrush data when the Seobase MCP is connected.
Usage
/seo-audit example.com — audit the given website
Steps
1. If the Seobase MCP is connected, run the unified audit tool first
Call mcp__seobase__audit_run_site_audit with the site's sitemap URL
(https://example.com/sitemap.xml). It crawls the sitemap, samples pages, and checks
reachability + on-page basics (title, meta description, single H1, canonical, JSON-LD,
viewport) in one call — this composes checks Seobase's own app already runs internally.
Fold its scoreSummary straight into the report in step 6.
2. Fetch and analyze the homepage (always, free-tier fallback)
Use WebFetch to load the target URL if step 1 wasn't available, or to spot-check a page outside the crawled sample. Check title tag, meta description, H1, Open Graph/Twitter Card tags, canonical URL, hreflang.
3. Check technical SEO
/robots.txt (crawl rules, sitemap reference), /sitemap.xml (well-formed, URL count),
HTTPS enforcement, mobile viewport meta tag, obvious render-blocking scripts.
4. Check dead links
If the MCP is connected and you found outbound links during steps 1–3, call
mcp__seobase__audit_check_dead_links with up to 50 of them — it reuses the same
SSRF-safe, cached checker Seobase's own content pipeline uses before unlinking a dead
citation. Never call a link "dead" on a WebFetch timeout alone; only report a URL as
dead if this tool returns 404/410.
5. Check search presence
- If connected:
mcp__seobase__gsc_search_analyticsandmcp__seobase__bing_search_analyticsfor real clicks/impressions/CTR/position, andmcp__seobase__gsc_index_statusfor what's actually indexed. - If not connected: WebSearch
site:example.comfor a rough indexed-page count and a brand-name search for what appears in the SERP. - Either way:
mcp__seobase__semrush_backlinksif connected — authority score, referring domains, and toxic-link flags are real link-graph data no WebFetch-only audit can see.
6. Report findings

1. [Highest impact fix]
2. [Second highest]
3. [Third highest]
Always label each number with its real source (live Seobase data vs. a WebFetch/ WebSearch estimate) — never present a guess as measured data.

Beyond Cogny-style GSC/Bing numbers, this audit also gets:
- Real backlink authority (
semrush_backlinks) — most audit tools have nothing here. - AI-visibility / GEO — run
/geo-visibilityalongside this for LLM-citation data. - CTR opportunities — run
/ctr-fixfor pages with impressions but low CTR.
For ongoing tracking, use /rank-report.
