Performance MAX SEO Audit Tool
Analyze any website URL for SEO issues and generate a structured report with actionable recommendations. Focused on local business SEO signals.
How to Use
The user provides a URL to audit. Fetch and analyze the page, then produce a comprehensive SEO report.
Audit Process
Step 1: Fetch the Page
Use the browser tool (Camofox) or curl to retrieve the target URL's HTML source:
curl -sL -A "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_7) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/120.0.0.0 Safari/537.36" "TARGET_URL" -o /tmp/seo-audit-page.html
Also fetch the robots.txt and sitemap:
curl -sL "TARGET_DOMAIN/robots.txt" -o /tmp/seo-audit-robots.txt
curl -sL "TARGET_DOMAIN/sitemap.xml" -o /tmp/seo-audit-sitemap.xml
Step 2: Analyze HTML Elements
Parse the downloaded HTML and check each of the following categories.
A. Title Tag
- Exists and is not empty
- Length is 50-60 characters (optimal for search results)
- Contains primary keyword
- Is unique (not generic like "Home" or "Welcome")
- Includes brand name or location
B. Meta Description
- Exists and is not empty
- Length is 120-160 characters
- Contains primary keyword
- Includes a call to action or value proposition
- Is compelling (would you click this in search results?)
C. Heading Structure
- Exactly one
<h1>tag on the page - H1 contains primary keyword
- Logical hierarchy (H1 > H2 > H3, no skipped levels)
- H2 tags used for major sections
- Headings are descriptive (not generic like "Services" alone)
D. Schema Markup (Structured Data)
Check for JSON-LD or Microdata. Look for these schema types especially:
-
LocalBusinessorOrganizationschema -
ServiceorProductschema -
FAQPageschema -
BlogPostingorArticleschema -
BreadcrumbListschema -
AggregateRatingorReviewschema
Extract and validate any JSON-LD blocks found in <script type="application/ld+json"> tags.
E. Image Optimization
- All
<img>tags havealtattributes - Alt text is descriptive (not empty, not just "image")
- Images use modern formats (WebP, AVIF) or are optimized JPG/PNG
- No oversized images (check width/height attributes)
- Lazy loading implemented (
loading="lazy")
F. Technical SEO
-
<html lang="...">attribute is set - Canonical URL is specified (
<link rel="canonical">) - Open Graph tags present (og:title, og:description, og:image)
- Twitter Card tags present
- Viewport meta tag for mobile (
<meta name="viewport" ...>) - No broken internal links (check
<a href>values for obvious issues) - HTTPS is used (not HTTP)
- robots.txt exists and is not blocking important pages
- XML sitemap exists and is referenced in robots.txt
G. Page Speed Hints
Analyze the HTML for performance red flags:
- No render-blocking scripts in
<head>without async/defer - CSS is minified or uses critical CSS
- No excessive external script tags (count them)
- No inline styles larger than 500 characters
- Font loading strategy (font-display: swap or preload)
H. Mobile-Friendliness
- Viewport meta tag is correctly configured
- No fixed-width elements that would cause horizontal scroll
- Touch targets are adequately sized (links/buttons not too small)
- Text is readable without zooming (font sizes >= 16px base)
Step 3: Local SEO Signals (Critical for Local Businesses)
These are the most important checks for Performance MAX's target clients:
NAP Consistency (Name, Address, Phone)
- Business name appears on the page
- Full street address is visible (not just city/state)
- Phone number is displayed and clickable (
<a href="tel:...">) - NAP information matches what would be on Google Business Profile
- Address uses
LocalBusinessschema markup
Google Business Profile Signals
- Links to or embeds Google Maps
- Mentions business hours
- Service area is defined
- Google reviews or testimonials are displayed
Local Content Signals
- Location-specific keywords in content (city, neighborhood, state)
- Location pages for each service area (if multi-location)
- Local landmarks or references in content
- Geo meta tags present
Review Signals
- Customer testimonials or reviews displayed
- Review schema markup (AggregateRating)
- Links to third-party review profiles (Google, Yelp)
