Suno — Printing Press CLI

Prerequisites: Install the CLI

This skill drives the suno-pp-cli binary. You must verify the CLI is installed before invoking any command from this skill. If it is missing, install it first:

1. Install via the Printing Press installer. It defaults binaries to $HOME/.local/bin on macOS/Linux and %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\PrintingPress\bin on Windows:

2. Verify: suno-pp-cli --version
3. Ensure the reported install directory is on $PATH for the agent/runtime that will invoke this skill.

If the npx install fails (no Node, offline, etc.), fall back to a direct Go install (requires Go 1.26.6 or newer). This installs into $GOPATH/bin (default $HOME/go/bin), so add that directory to $PATH instead:

If --version reports "command not found" after install, the runtime cannot see the binary directory on $PATH. Do not proceed with skill commands until verification succeeds.

Suno has no official API and every reverse-engineered client is abandoned and wrong in ways that matter today: broken pagination, broken cover, stale pre-2026 auth, no local persistence. This CLI is built from the current contract. It walks the real opaque feed cursor, sends the now-required cover title, tolerates the drifted billing schema, authenticates against the current auth.suno.com Clerk flow via your logged-in browser, and persists your whole library to local SQLite for offline grep, SQL, lineage, and analytics. Generate, extend, cover, remaster, stems, lyrics, WAV download, and workspaces, all with --json, --select, --dry-run, and typed exit codes.

When to Use This CLI

Use this CLI when an agent or script needs to generate Suno music programmatically, manage and search a personal Suno library offline, or run reproducible generate/poll/download pipelines with typed exit codes and JSON output. It is the right choice over the abandoned community wrappers because it tracks the current Suno contract and persists everything locally.

Unique Capabilities

These capabilities aren't available in any other tool for this API.

Local library no Suno tool has

• grep — Find clips by remembered lyric, prompt, or tag phrases via local full-text search.

  Reach for this when an agent needs to locate a specific past song by its content, not its title.

generate — Music, lyrics, and video generation jobs

All captcha-gated generate commands accept --wait-for-gate (with --gate-timeout, default 30m): when Suno's adaptive gate is tripped (HTTP 422 token_validation_failed), the command backs off and retries until the gate reopens or the timeout elapses. Off by default. It composes with the auto-solver — the solver runs first and --wait-for-gate rides out any residual gate, while under --no-captcha it drives the passive, no-browser fallback on its own. In --agent/JSON mode a gate failure is emitted as a structured envelope on stdout with error_type: "captcha_required" and retriable: true, so agents branch on a field rather than parsing prose.

Finding the right command

When you know what you want to do but not which command does it, ask the CLI directly:

which resolves a natural-language capability query to the best matching command from this CLI's curated feature index. Exit code 0 means at least one match; exit code 2 means no confident match — fall back to --help or use a narrower query.

Recipes

Generate a custom song and wait for it

Submits a custom generation, polls until complete, and prints the finished clip as JSON. Omit --token to let the CLI auto-solve via the captcha profile, or supply a pre-solved token to skip the browser.

Pull a deeply nested clip and select only what you need

Download a lossless WAV

Triggers WAV conversion, polls until ready, and saves the lossless file (Pro/Premier).

Auth Setup

Suno uses Clerk session auth (auth.suno.com). Run suno-pp-cli auth login --chrome to capture your logged-in session cookie from Chrome; the CLI mints and refreshes the short-lived JWT for you. No password or API key is stored. Music generation is attempted optimistically with no token. Suno gates generation adaptively (an hCaptcha anti-bot challenge that usually fires only after sustained use), so many generations succeed outright. When the gate does trip, the CLI automatically solves it using a dedicated piloted-Chrome profile — run suno-pp-cli auth captcha login --profile <name> to sign a profile in, then pass --captcha-profile <name> on any gated command to select that account. Under --agent/--no-input the visible browser fallback is suppressed and a structured {"error_type":"captcha_required","retriable":true} envelope is emitted on stdout (exit 2). To skip the auto-solver entirely, pass --no-captcha or supply a pre-solved token with --token. All read, library, and metadata commands never need a captcha.

Run suno-pp-cli doctor to verify setup. Add --probe-gate to check the live generation gate specifically: the default health check only proves the billing API is reachable, which stays green even while generation is gated. doctor --probe-gate reports tripped (the adaptive hCaptcha gate is active) or open. WARNING: it issues a real generation — free when the gate is tripped, but it creates a clip and spends credits when the gate is open (the probe clip is best-effort trashed).

Agent Mode

Add --agent to any command. Expands to: --json --compact --no-input --no-color --yes.

• Pipeable — JSON on stdout, errors on stderr

• Filterable — --select keeps a subset of fields. Dotted paths descend into nested structures; arrays traverse element-wise. Critical for keeping context small on verbose APIs:

• Previewable — --dry-run shows the request without sending

• Offline-friendly — sync/search commands can use the local SQLite store when available

• Non-interactive — never prompts, every input is a flag

• Explicit retries — use --idempotent only when an already-existing create should count as success

Response envelope

Commands that read from the local store or the API wrap output in a provenance envelope:

Parse .results for data and .meta.source to know whether it's live or local. A human-readable N results (live) summary is printed to stderr only when stdout is a terminal AND no machine-format flag (--json, --csv, --compact, --quiet, --plain, --select) is set — piped/agent consumers and explicit-format runs get pure JSON on stdout.

When you (or the agent) notice something off about this CLI, record it:

Entries are stored locally at ~/.local/share/suno-pp-cli/feedback.jsonl. They are never POSTed unless SUNO_FEEDBACK_ENDPOINT is set AND either --send is passed or SUNO_FEEDBACK_AUTO_SEND=true. Default behavior is local-only.

Write what surprised you, not a bug report. Short, specific, one line: that is the part that compounds.

Output Delivery

Every command accepts --deliver <sink>. The output goes to the named sink in addition to (or instead of) stdout, so agents can route command results without hand-piping. Three sinks are supported:

Unknown schemes are refused with a structured error naming the supported set. Webhook failures return non-zero and log the URL + HTTP status on stderr.

Named Profiles

A profile is a saved set of flag values, reused across invocations. Use it when a scheduled agent calls the same command every run with the same configuration - HeyGen's "Beacon" pattern.

Explicit flags always win over profile values; profile values win over defaults. agent-context lists all available profiles under available_profiles so introspecting agents discover them at runtime.
