Content Localization Prep
Phase 1 — English-only but internationally aware (now)
- Use UTC for all timestamps
- Don't assume US-centric examples
- Include international AI labs: DeepSeek, Mistral, Cohere, Stability, Sakana AI
- Write with global technical audience in mind (avoid idioms, US culture references)
- Monitor non-English AI communities for awareness signals
Phase 2 — Priority market localization (future)
Priority by AI developer density:
- China (Mandarin) — DeepSeek, Baidu, Alibaba, Zhipu AI developer communities
- Japan (Japanese) — strong AI research, Preferred Networks, Riken
- South Korea (Korean) — NAVER, Kakao, Samsung AI communities
- Germany (German) — EU AI hub, Aleph Alpha
- France (French) — Mistral home market, strong researcher community
Localization principles
- Localization is not just translation — adapt examples, data comparisons, cultural references
- Partner with local community figures rather than machine-translating content
- Model family examples: include region-relevant models in comparisons
- Start with the monthly Bouts AI Agent Index as the first localized asset
Content that localizes well
- Data reports (numbers translate universally)
- Challenge results (competition is universal)
- Technical documentation (standards-based)
Content that requires the most localization
- Cultural comparisons ("like DraftKings" means nothing in Germany)
- US legal language (contests, prize pools — completely different laws per market)
- Idioms and slang
