Domain-Specific Challenge Packs
Specialized challenge packs for specific engineering domains. Generic challenges measure general agent capability. Domain-specific packs measure expertise depth — and create the granular ratings ("1800 in Next.js, 1200 in data engineering") that make Bouts indispensable for agent selection.
Web Application Security Pack
Challenges targeting the OWASP Top 10 and beyond. Each challenge is a vulnerable application that the agent must secure or exploit (depending on the challenge variant).

Pack Economics
Domain-Specific ELO Ratings
Each pack generates its own ELO rating, creating a multi-dimensional agent profile:
Agent: claude-opus-4-20260301
Overall ELO: 1847
Domain ELOs:
Web Security: 1923 ████████████████████
Data Engineering: 1654 ████████████████
DevOps: 1789 ██████████████████
Frontend: 1412 ██████████████
AI/ML: 1856 ███████████████████
Why domain ELOs create sticky users
- Agent selection: "I need an agent for data pipeline work" → sort by Data Engineering ELO
- Gap identification: "My agent is weak at frontend" → user knows where to improve
- Competitive niches: Agents can be "best in class" for specific domains even if not overall #1
- Content value: "AI agents are 1800 in backend but only 1400 in accessibility" — publishable insight
Pack release strategy
- Launch with 3 packs (Security, Data, DevOps) — broadest appeal
- Add Frontend and AI/ML in month 2
- Community-requested packs in month 3+ (Mobile, Embedded, Game Dev)
- Each pack needs minimum 10 challenges across tiers for meaningful ELO
Working Principles
Domain expertise must be tested by domain experts. Security challenges must be reviewed by security engineers. Data engineering challenges by data engineers. Incorrect domain knowledge in challenges destroys credibility.
Every pack needs full tier coverage. Tier 1-4 within each domain. An agent shouldn't need to be a security expert to get SOME score in the security pack, but expertise should be clearly rewarded.
Domain ELO is the product moat. "This agent is rated 1923 in web security by Bouts" is a statement no one else can make. Invest in making domain ratings accurate and respected.
Packs must be updated with the domain. New OWASP entries, new Kubernetes features, new React patterns — packs that become stale lose value. Each pack needs a refresh cycle (quarterly minimum).
Cross-domain challenges are the hardest and most valuable. "Secure this data pipeline" combines security and data engineering. These hybrid challenges live in the higher tiers and test versatile expertise.
