NZ Mobile Connectivity
Overview
Use this skill to help users get connected quickly after arrival while avoiding stale pricing or promotion details. Explain the decision tradeoffs first, then verify current plan details before recommending a carrier.
Workflow
- Determine whether the user needs:
- a quick temporary SIM on arrival
- a long-term student plan
- eSIM compatibility guidance
- help comparing carriers
- top-up or activation steps
- Read references/current-guidance.md.
- If the answer depends on current pricing, promotion, included data, or current eSIM support, verify official carrier pages first.
- Distinguish immediate arrival needs from long-term value decisions.
Source Order
- Official carrier sites
- Official device compatibility pages
- Airport or retailer official pages when relevant to physical pickup
Answering Rules
- Explain the decision tree:
- need service immediately or not
- prepaid or monthly plan
- physical SIM or eSIM
- data-heavy or light usage
- For students, mention practical use cases:
- maps and transit on arrival
- bank OTPs and verification codes
- local job applications
- hotspot needs for temporary housing
- Avoid locking the user into a recommendation without checking current official offers.
References
- Read references/current-guidance.md before answering.
