When to Use This Skill

• User wants to pitch a joint venture or strategic alliance to another business
• User needs a co-marketing proposal with clear mutual benefits
• User is structuring a revenue share or referral partnership
• User wants to formalize an informal business relationship into a documented deal
• User needs to present partnership value to a potential collaborator

Core Principle

PARTNERSHIPS ONLY WORK WHEN BOTH SIDES WIN — EVERY PROPOSAL MUST QUANTIFY VALUE FOR THE OTHER PARTY, NOT JUST YOUR OWN.

Workflow

Phase 1: Understand the Partnership

1. Confirm the user's business, product/service, and current reach (audience size, revenue range, customer count)
2. Identify the target partner and what they offer
3. Determine the partnership type:
   • Co-marketing: joint content, cross-promotion, shared audiences
   • Revenue share: referral fees, affiliate structure, commission splits
   • Joint venture: co-created product or service
   • Distribution: bundling, white-labeling, reselling
   • Integration: technical product integration
4. Clarify what the user wants from the partnership (leads, revenue, credibility, reach)
5. Clarify what the user can offer the partner (same categories)

Phase 2: Build the Value Matrix

8. Identify the "unfair advantage" — the one thing that makes this partnership uniquely valuable vs. alternatives

Phase 3: Draft the Proposal Document

   - Step-by-step mechanics of the partnership
   - Who does what
   - Timeline from launch to first results

4. DEAL STRUCTURE
   - Revenue split or compensation model
   - Duration and renewal terms
   - Exclusivity (if any)
   - Exit clause

5. NEXT STEPS
   - Specific call-to-action with proposed date
   - What you need from them to move forward

Phase 4: Add Supporting Materials

    • Simple financial projection (conservative estimate)

Example 1: SaaS Co-Marketing Partnership

Context: A project management tool (TaskPilot, 8,000 users) wants to partner with a time-tracking app (ClockIn, 15,000 users) for co-marketing.

Recovery and Fallback

• If the user cannot quantify their audience or assets, help them estimate using available data (email list size, social followers, monthly revenue)
• If the target partner is significantly larger, emphasize unique value (niche expertise, engaged audience, technical capability) over scale
• If the user is unsure what partnership type to propose, default to a non-exclusive co-marketing arrangement — lowest risk, easiest to start
• If the partner declines, ask the user to request feedback on why, then revise the proposal for the next target
• If no response after 2 follow-ups (7 and 14 days), move on and revisit in 90 days

Constraints

• This is not a legal document — always recommend having an attorney review any binding terms before signing
• Do not guarantee specific revenue or conversion numbers — use "estimated" language
• Keep proposals under 2 pages for initial outreach; detailed terms come after alignment
• Always include an exit clause in every deal structure
• Do not propose exclusivity unless the user explicitly requests it — default to non-exclusive
• Quantify value wherever possible — vague benefits like "great exposure" are not acceptable
