Outline Drafter
A draft is only as good as the outline under it. By here you have the gap analysis, the word count to beat, the real PAA, and the banks of what's already been used. This skill turns that into a structure built to fill the gap, answer the questions, and get pulled into AI answers, before any prose exists.
Run after competitor-analyzer (load the gap analysis), with the site brief and banks to hand, before draft-writer.
Inputs (ask for whatever is missing)
- The gap analysis and keyword brief (required).
- The site brief, voice profile, and banks from
brief-builder.
The method
Build sections from the gap analysis. Cover the table stakes so the page isn't thin, give real depth where competitors went shallow, and make the "nobody covers" angle a section of its own. That unique section is the reason the page exists.
Turn PAA into question-form H2s. Use the real People Also Ask as headings, phrased as the question, with the first paragraph answering it. This is what wins featured snippets and AI citations.
Place the answer capsule up top. Right after the first question-form H2, plan a 40-60 word, self-contained answer a model can lift whole. Plan for at least two cited statistics with named sources inside the first 30% of the article. Roughly 44% of AI citations come from that first third, so front-load.
Set the word count and section sizes. Total meets or beats the competitor average from the gap analysis. Size each section to its importance, no padding to hit a number.
Plan the one unique E-E-A-T moment. Pick a story or first-hand experience from the bank that no other article has used, and mark the section it goes in. If every story is taken, flag it for the human rather than reusing one.
Force a fresh opening. Check the openings of the site's existing articles and make this one different. No definition open, no "Yes." plus a stat, no copy-pasted self-introduction. The first lines have to not match what's already live.
Plan the links. Mark where internal links go (max two per section, none in the conclusion, at least one crossing into another content cluster) and which named tools or sources need a citation link at first mention. Links get woven into real sentences later, never bolted on.
Output
Produce an outline.md: the title and the fresh-opening note, the ordered H2s (each tagged with the PAA or gap it serves and a word count), the placed answer capsule and the up-top stats, the marked E-E-A-T section, and the link plan. Confirm the total clears the word count to beat.
Then stop. The writer follows this outline and doesn't redesign it.
