Fresh Rewrite
- Set the original aside.
- In a scratchpad, write a fresh bullet outline, then draft from it without consulting the original.
- Review the original only after the new draft exists. Bring over anything worth keeping, adapted to the new structure and language.
- Replace the original with the new version and discard the scratchpad.
Use concrete, ordinary, declarative language. Use jargon terms only when ordinary terms are not accurate enough. For technical material, lean one quarter toward Simplified Technical English: shorter sentences, consistent terms, define unusual terms on first use, explicit references, and limited nesting.
