Capital roadmap
Seed (2024)
Goal: Fund product-market fit validation in MENA. Prove that MENA lawyers adopt and retain a bilingual AI assistant.
Use of funds:
- Engineering (core skill library + MENA jurisdiction coverage)
- Founding GTM: first 10 law-firm pilot accounts in UAE and KSA
- Legal and compliance infrastructure (data residency, bar-rule compliance, DPA)
Target lead: Strategic angels with legal-industry or MENA-tech domain expertise — e.g., managing partners of top-tier MENA law firms, GCC-focused venture angels, or former BigLaw partners who understand the product gap.
KPIs to seed close: Working product, 3–5 paying pilot accounts, demonstrated retention at 60-day mark.
Series A (target: late 2025 / 2026)
Trigger: Revenue traction in MENA proven. Specifically:
- Recurring revenue from mid-tier law-firm and in-house counsel segment
- Demonstrable per-seat retention (>80% at 12 months)
- Skill library depth that competitors cannot replicate quickly (Arabic corpora, MENA jurisdiction coverage breadth)
Goal: Scale GTM into KSA (largest market), expand engineering for enterprise features (SSO, audit trail, matter management integration), and build the law-student channel.
Target lead: Institutional VC with MENA / emerging-market portfolio — Gulf Capital, STV, Middle East Venture Partners, Global Ventures — or a strategic from the legal-tech or enterprise-SaaS space.
Use of funds:
- KSA market entry (localisation, regulatory, Tawqi3i integration)
- Enterprise sales team (UAE + KSA + London for Western-firm deals)
- Data partnerships (GCC legal database providers for jurisdiction-specific corpora)
- SOC 2 Type II + ISO 27001 compliance (required for enterprise procurement)
Investor narrative framework
The problem: MENA legal professionals — 80,000+ lawyers — are underserved by every existing legal AI product. Harvey, CoCounsel, and Spellbook were built for US/UK BigLaw. None handles Arabic, UAE Federal Law, KSA Royal Decrees, or DIFC common-law precedents. The tools that exist are either English-only or generic chatbots with no jurisdiction awareness.
The wedge: Louis is the first legal AI built specifically for MENA, with a bilingual Arabic/English skill library, MENA-jurisdictional knowledge base, and a comfort UI designed to lower adoption barriers in a conservative professional market.
The market: MENA legal services market ~$8B total; MENA legal AI TAM in 2030 estimated ~$500M ARR. See [[strategy-markets]].
The moat: MENA legal corpora (Arabic-language statutes, Ministry decisions, DIFC/ADGM precedents), bilingual skill library, and the network effect of bar-association and university distribution locking in the next-generation practitioner.
