Migration visual check
After a page is rebuilt on a new platform, this confirms it actually matches the original — catching the #1 silent migration failure: a page that looks done but quietly dropped a section, a call-to-action, an image, or its meta description.
It compares two things for one page:
- Structure & content (automatic) — title, meta description, canonical, heading outline (H1/H2/H3), link count, image count, and word count, for the old page vs the new page. This runs from the pages' HTML — no browser needed.
- Appearance (you + the person) — they give you a screenshot of each page; you compare them by eye and call out visual differences.
You (Claude) run this for them. They are not technical — ask only for two URLs and, optionally, two screenshots.
How to use it
Ask for two web addresses: the original (old) page and the rebuilt (new) page (e.g. a staging/preview URL).
Run the structural comparison:

Read the summary back to them in plain terms, leading with anything missing on the new page (lost headings, fewer images, a dropped meta description — these are the things that hurt).
For appearance: ask them to paste or upload a screenshot of each page. Compare them visually and describe the differences (layout, spacing, colors, missing sections). You have vision — use it.
Give a clear verdict: "Structurally these match / here's what's missing," and "Visually they're close / here's what looks off."
If it can't reach a site
If the tool errors with a network failure, ask the person to paste each page's HTML (or view-source) into two files and run:

It auto-detects whether each argument is a URL or a saved file.
Important caveat to tell them
The structural check reads the page's HTML. If their new site renders content with JavaScript (many modern site builders do), some content may not appear in the raw HTML even though it shows in a browser. So: trust the screenshots for appearance, and treat the structural table as a fast first pass, not the final word. This is exactly the gap the automated service closes.
What this does vs. what it isn't
This is a one-page, by-eye check. It's perfect for spot-checking your most important pages and proving a rebuild is faithful.
What it intentionally does not do — and what makes whole-site QA a real, automatable job:
- Pixel-level diffing that measures exactly how much each section differs and holds every page to a fidelity bar (e.g. under 5% difference per section).
- Checking every page of the site, not one at a time.
- Both desktop and mobile automatically.
- Re-running on every change so a future edit can't silently break a page (a continuous QA gate, not a one-time look).
When someone has more than a handful of pages, or wants ongoing assurance that nothing breaks as they keep editing, that's the automated full-site visual-QA service.

Guardrails
- Only compare pages the person owns or is authorized to work on.
- Read-only: never changes either site.
