Callback Web Architecture

Plant narrative seeds early in content, then pay them off later in unexpected ways to create the sense that everything connects—useful for speeches, essays, comedy sets, or any long-form narrative.

Constraints

• Never force callbacks that don't serve the story. Callbacks should enhance meaning, not just show cleverness.
• Never sacrifice clarity for callback payoff. If audience won't remember the setup, don't use the callback.
• Never let callback structure become predictable formula. Vary timing, stakes, and types of payoffs.
• Never use callbacks to avoid actually developing ideas. Structure supports substance, doesn't replace it.

When to Use

Use this skill when:

• Creating extended narrative (20+ minutes for talks, 1500+ words for written content)
• User requests "cohesive structure," "narrative unity," or "everything connects"
• Content has multiple themes/threads that could be woven together
• Want to create satisfying "aha" moments for audience
• User specifically requests "callback architecture" or "Hasan Minhaj structure"
• Comedy set, speech, or essay that would benefit from recurring motifs

Do NOT use when:

• Content is too short (under 10 minutes / 800 words) for callbacks to land

Step 4: Balance Comedy and Emotion

Vary the TYPE of payoffs to maintain dynamic rhythm:
