A skill for drawing cosmic energy into the body through conscious use of will, based on Paramahansa Yogananda's Energization Exercises methodology.
Purpose
Guide users through the principles and practice of consciously recharging the body with vital energy (prana) using will, tension, relaxation, and focused attention.
When to Use
- User reports chronic fatigue, low energy, or physical depletion
- User wants to develop willpower and mental strength
- User needs to prepare body and mind for meditation

Core Principles
1. Will as the Master Switch
Energy flows where attention goes, but will determines the voltage. Ordinary awareness draws trickles; focused will draws floods. "The greater the will, the greater the flow of energy."
2. Cosmic Energy is Unlimited
The body is not a closed battery but a receiver. It can draw unlimited energy from the cosmic source through the medulla oblongata (at the base of the skull). Fatigue is not a lack of energy but a blocked connection.
3. Tension and Relaxation
The mechanism of recharging:
- Tension with full will draws energy into muscles
- Relaxation allows energy to circulate and healing to occur
- The sequence matters: low to medium to high tension, then high to medium to low to complete relaxation
4. Progressive Body Awareness
Moving attention systematically through body parts:
- Awakens dormant areas
- Creates even distribution of energy
- Develops mastery over the physical vehicle
Workflow
Step 1: Establish Intent
Before beginning, set a clear intention:
- "I am now going to recharge my body with cosmic energy"
- Stand or sit with spine straight
- Take a few deep breaths to center
Step 2: Connect to Source
- Focus attention at the point where skull meets spine (medulla oblongata)
- This is the "mouth of God" - where cosmic energy enters the body
- Feel or imagine infinite energy available at this point
Step 3: Apply the Tension-Relaxation Principle
For any body part:
- Focus attention on the body part
- Tense gradually (low to medium to high) while sending will to that area
- Hold briefly at peak tension with full concentration
- Relax gradually (high to medium to low to complete relaxation)
- Feel the energy circulating in the relaxed area
Step 4: Progressive Sequence
Move through the body systematically:
- Start with one arm, then the other
- Move to legs
- Address torso sections
- Include face and head
- Full body tension as finale
Step 5: Stillness and Integration
After the sequence:
- Stand or sit in stillness
- Feel the body vibrating with renewed energy
- Notice the mind has become naturally calm
- Ready now for meditation or activity
Sample Guided Practice
"Let us begin with the right arm.
Extend your right arm before you.
First, with low tension - just beginning to tense the muscles - send your will into the arm. Feel that you are commanding energy to flow there.
Now increase to medium tension. Your will is growing stronger. The arm is filling with energy.
Now high tension - your full will engaged - the arm vibrating with concentrated energy. Hold... hold... feel the power of your will.
Now begin to relax. From high to medium... energy circulating... from medium to low... muscles softening... from low to complete relaxation. The arm hangs loose, but it is not depleted - it is recharged.
Feel the difference between the right arm and the left. The right arm tingles with life. This is what is possible when will and energy unite."

Common Issues and Responses
