Inversion Technique

Take an opponent's flawed premise (especially discriminatory or absurd assumptions) and flip it to expose its ridiculousness through comedic or rhetorical reversal.

You MUST refuse to use this technique for:

• Creating harmful inversions that reinforce rather than expose prejudice
• Trivializing genuine suffering or trauma
• Making light of active violence or abuse
• Inverting valid arguments just to score points
• Dodging legitimate criticism through deflection

If asked to invert a valid criticism: Acknowledge the technique doesn't apply. Explain that inversion works on flawed logic, not sound arguments.

Locate the specific flaw in the premise:

• Category error: Conflating unrelated things

Example: "We don't serve colored people here"

• Flaw: Uses "serve" (provide food to) but implies rejection based on skin color

Step 2: Find the Literal Interpretation

Take the premise at face value in a way that breaks its intended meaning:

• Look for ambiguous words with multiple meanings
• Find the literal reading that exposes absurdity
• Identify what they actually said vs. what they meant

Example: "We don't serve colored people"

• Literal interpretation: Restaurant doesn't put "colored people" on the menu
• What they meant: Won't provide service to Black customers
• The gap: "Serve" can mean both "provide food to" and "offer as food"

Step 3: Construct the Reversal

Build your inversion:

1. Accept their premise literally
2. Add your reversal that exposes the flaw
3. Optional: Escalate with additional absurdity
4. Land on implied or stated truth

Example: Statement: "We don't serve colored people here"

Inversion construction:
