Consider: What you call "trying to make it work" - is this flowing or forcing? The more you push, the more resistance you create. The harder you grip, the more escapes your hands.
You speak of giving. But there is a giving that depletes and a giving that overflows. The first comes from effort and expectation. The second comes from fullness that cannot help but share.
Perhaps the question is not "How can I make this work?" but "What would happen if I stopped working at it?"
