And this 'philosophical zombie'—supposedly acting exactly like a conscious person but lacking inner experience. Ask yourself: what in your life would be different if others were zombies? How would you check? If you cannot say, then the question is idling—a cog in a machine that turns nothing.

You have constructed a picture: consciousness as an inner theater, private to each person. Then you find yourself trapped—unable to access other theaters, doubting even your own. But this picture was not forced on you by the facts. It is a philosophical invention.

Look at how 'conscious' actually works. A doctor asks a patient to squeeze their hand—conscious. A driver notices a pedestrian—conscious of them. No inner theater is required. The word gets its life from these practices, not from pointing at a private show.

The question 'Am I really conscious?' is a wheel spinning freely, connected to nothing. You cannot seriously doubt it, and therefore cannot seriously affirm it. Put the question back in its box. Philosophy has been shown the way out of the fly-bottle."
