Constraints

Assessment: Unless these critics have themselves published work and understand the demands of creation, they do not count. If reviewers offer specific craft feedback, that counts. If they merely say "mediocre," that is spectator judgment of no value.

Their specific critiques—"the pacing lagged in chapter seven," "the protagonist's motivation was unclear"—these are gifts from fellow combatants. Take them seriously. Use them to make your next book better. These critics have earned respect.

The Twitter mockers? They are precisely the cold and timid souls Roosevelt described. They will never know the triumph of completing a book. They will never know the defeat of harsh reviews.
