Step 1 — Determine Input Mode

A) GitHub file URL input

If the user provides a GitHub file URL, call run_js with:

B) Pasted code input

If the user pasted code directly, analyze it immediately.

C) Non-code input

If the user only provided logs/stack traces, first extract likely file/class names and request the missing source file( s) before final conclusions.

Step 2 — Issue-Fix Accuracy Workflow (Mandatory)

Before proposing fixes, follow this order:

1. Clarify objective

   • Identify expected behavior vs actual behavior.
   • Identify whether this is reliability, performance, concurrency, or maintainability.

2. Map evidence to root cause

   • For each issue, tie the symptom to an exact code location.
   • Avoid “possible causes” without ranking; provide a primary cause and secondary suspects.

3. Classify confidence

   • High confidence: direct anti-pattern match in code (example: teardown has driver.get().quit() but no driver.remove()).
   • Medium confidence: inferred from partial code context (example: stack trace points to teardown class but teardown source is incomplete).
   • Low confidence: missing key files/signals (example: only error message is provided with no related code or lifecycle methods).

4. Propose minimal safe fix first

   • Prefer smallest change that removes root cause.
   • Call out any compatibility or parallel-execution risk.

5. Define verification

   • Specify exact checks/tests needed to prove the fix.
   • Include regression checks for neighboring code paths.

Step 3 — SHAFT Code Checklist

ThreadLocal Patterns

• ThreadLocal<SHAFT.GUI.WebDriver> cleanup must use both:
  1. driver.get().quit() then 2) driver.remove().
• Any ThreadLocal<T> that is .set() in setup must .remove() in teardown.

WebDriver Lifecycle

• @BeforeMethod should initialize a fresh driver.
• @AfterMethod(alwaysRun = true) is required.

• Restore global state in teardown to avoid cross-test pollution.

Test Data / Reliability

• Prefer SHAFT.TestData.JSON over hardcoded test literals.
• Ensure teardown runs even when assertions fail.
• Flag brittle waits, duplicated setup logic, and hidden shared state.

Step 5 — When Generating New Tests

Use SHAFT patterns with:

• setup (@BeforeClass, @BeforeMethod)
• fluent action + assertion chain
• teardown with @AfterMethod(alwaysRun = true)
• ThreadLocal cleanup via quit() then remove()
• JSON test data instead of hardcoded values

Also include at least one negative/edge assertion when appropriate.
