The Feed Watch

A full feed audit tells you everything wrong with the feed, which on a real catalog is a list nobody reads twice. This loop runs the audit on a cadence and reports only what changed, so a disapproval that appeared overnight is visible instead of buried under 400 known issues.

Loop discipline. Read references/loop-cadence-guide.md before running, in particular Baseline Contamination, Alert Fatigue, and The Loop Has to Be Able to Fail. This loop reports the delta since the last run, so a standing disapproval that was flagged and consciously accepted belongs in the ledger as dismissed rather than being re-reported every day.

Before you write

Run the input list below before you write anything. If one of those inputs is missing, ask for it and stop. Do not return a draft with a warning on it. The user copies the draft and leaves the warning behind, so a caveat protects you and not them. Ask at most THREE questions. Hard cap. Before anything becomes a question, get it yourself: read .agents/product-context.md, fetch the site or page they named, compute it from numbers they already gave, or look up the platform default. Whatever is left after that, and everything past the third question, becomes a stated assumption the user corrects in one word rather than a question that stops the work. Number them, and say what you will assume if one goes unanswered. Check .agents/product-context.md first so you never ask for something already recorded there.

No context file, no problem. Build it, do not bounce the user. If .agents/product-context.md does not exist, research the company yourself: their site for positioning, offer, tiers, voice and proof, plus public sources for competitors and category. Ask only for what research genuinely cannot establish, inside the three-question budget. Write what you learn to .agents/product-context.md so the next skill does not repeat the work, and say in one line what you inferred rather than observed. Never tell the user to go and run a different skill before you can start.

Write it the way you would say it. Read references/house-rules.md and apply it to everything you return: answer first, ordinary words, short sentences, top three rather than all fourteen, no em dashes. How to run

1. The current feed export and the channel it targets: Google Shopping, Meta catalog, TikTok catalog, or a marketplace. Requirements differ per channel and a diff across two different channels is meaningless.
2. Channel diagnostics - Merchant Center or the equivalent - if disapprovals already exist.
3. Live product page URLs for a sample, so feed values can be checked against what the storefront actually shows.
4. The ledger, for the previous run's issue set, the watchlist, and suppressions.
5. The severity floor for what gets reported: everything, or only issues that block delivery. Default to delivery-blocking, because that is the set with revenue attached.

Method

1. Confirm the feed is the same feed. Compare row count and channel against last run. A feed that shrank by 30% overnight is the finding - a truncated export produces hundreds of false "newly missing" attributes. Report a large row-count drop as a suspected export failure and stop rather than diffing it.
2. Read the ledger for the prior issue set, watchlist, and active suppressions.
3. Run the audit below against the stated channel's requirements. Do not substitute a generic attribute list: the required set is channel-specific.

The audit

1. Confirm which required-for-approval attributes are present for the target channel: id, title, description, price, availability, image link, product link, and GTIN/MPN/brand where the channel's identifier policy requires them for that category. Mark any missing required attribute as a disapproval risk, not just a completeness gap.
2. Compare feed price to the live product page price for every item flagged in diagnostics, plus any items the user calls out. Any mismatch, in either direction, is a real finding: feed-to-page price mismatch is a hard policy violation on every major channel, not a matter of degree.
3. Compare feed availability (in stock, out of stock, preorder) to the live page's actual add-to-cart state for the same sample. Flag any item shown available in the feed but unavailable on the page, or the reverse.
4. Check title and description against three criteria: does the title carry the attributes shoppers search on for this category (brand, key attribute, size or variant where applicable); is the description free of boilerplate-only text; are both free of promotional symbols or all-caps that trigger style rejections on some channels.
5. Check images for resolution, background compliance (most channels require a plain or white background on the primary image), and whether the image actually matches the linked product.
6. Check for variant confusion: parent and child items sharing one identifier, or size/color variants missing their own item IDs.
7. Check category mapping: does the feed's assigned category match what the channel's own taxonomy expects for this item type. A wrong category routes the item into the wrong auction and the wrong search matches.
8. Split every finding into two buckets: blocks approval (identifier, price mismatch, availability mismatch, prohibited content) versus degrades performance only (weak title, thin description, mediocre image). Anything not directly confirmed in the diagnostics export is marked as needing confirmation in the channel's own diagnostics before anyone spends time fixing it.
9. Build a fix queue ordered by approval-blocking items first, then performance-degrading items, then reusable cleanup patterns across the catalog.

4. On the first run, record the full issue set as the baseline and report it as a backlog, not as breakage. Every issue is "new" on run one. Labelling the backlog as overnight breakage destroys the loop's credibility immediately.
5. Diff into four buckets, which carry different urgency:
   • New - absent last run, present now. This is the loop's whole reason to exist.
   • Resolved - present last run, gone now. Confirms fixes landed.
   • Persistent - present both runs, with a count of consecutive runs.
   • Regressed - resolved in an earlier run, back again. The most important bucket: a regression means a fix does not hold, usually because a template or sync overwrites it.
6. Evaluate the gate: flagged if any new or regressed issue is at or above the severity floor. Persistent issues do not trip the gate - they are already known - but are counted so a growing backlog stays visible.
7. Check price and availability against the live page for every new issue, not just against the feed's internal consistency. A feed that agrees with itself and disagrees with the storefront is the mismatch that gets products disapproved.
8. Group new issues by cause, not by SKU. Fifty SKUs missing GTIN from one supplier import is one problem with one fix, and listing it fifty times hides that. Report these as reusable cleanup patterns (title template, description template, image spec) rather than per-SKU rows.
9. Never edit products or the feed. Feed and disapproval issues need human diagnosis - a wrong automated fix propagates to every channel reading that feed. Output the work queue for a person.
10. Append to the ledger: feed row count, channel, the full current issue set for the next diff, and which buckets each issue landed in.

Output format

Feed watch verdict: how many new and regressed issues at or above the severity floor, and whether the gate tripped. Or SUSPECTED EXPORT FAILURE with the row-count evidence.

New since last run (grouped by cause, not by SKU)

Regressed: issues that were fixed and came back, with the run they were resolved in and the likely overwrite source.

Resolved: confirmed fixes since last run.

Persistent backlog: count by severity plus consecutive-run count, not the full list.

Live page mismatches: feed value versus storefront value, both stated, for every new mismatch.

Feed integrity: row count this run versus last run, and the channel audited.

Rules

• Never diff a feed whose row count dropped sharply without first reporting a suspected export failure.
• Never diff across two different channels' feeds.
• Never report the first run's backlog as new breakage.
• Never edit a product, a feed row, or a template. Diagnosis and fixes are human work here.
• Never list a shared cause once per affected SKU. Group by cause.
• Never let persistent issues trip the gate - only new and regressed ones.
• Never check price and availability against the feed alone when live page URLs were provided.

Quality check before returning

Scope of these checks. Two rules before you run them, because testing found both failures in most skills in this pack:

• A check you cannot answer from the inputs you asked for is conditional, not skippable. If it needs data the Inputs section never collects, run it only when the user happened to supply that data. Otherwise say the check did not run and name the input it needed. Never skip it silently, and never invent the data to make it pass. Inventing is the likelier failure and the worse one.
• Every figure stated in this skill's own instructions is a pack benchmark, not the user's number. Label it inline as such wherever it reaches the output, or replace it with [NEED: source] if it is doing real work in a decision and no source exists. House rules 4b and 4c have the full version.

Before returning the output, verify:

• Where a trend or direction of travel is reported, does a stored snapshot actually exist, and on a first run is the section shown as baseline: no prior run to compare rather than invented or omitted?

• Row count and channel were compared against last run, and a sharp drop reported as suspected export failure.

• The first run is labelled a baseline backlog, not breakage.

• Every issue landed in exactly one of new, resolved, persistent, or regressed.

• Regressions name the run they were previously resolved in.

• New issues are grouped by cause with SKU counts, not enumerated per SKU.

• New price and availability issues were checked against the live page, with both values stated.

• The gate was evaluated on new and regressed issues only.

• The full current issue set was appended to the ledger for the next diff.

If any check fails, correct it before returning the output.
