Gym Meta Ads Funnel

Sell the challenge or front-end offer in the ad, route strangers into a short funnel that books a consult, and price the spend against what the offer can afford. The ad sells the challenge, never the gym itself.

Workflow

1. Set the offer and price first. Ads amplify a good offer and cannot rescue a weak one. If the challenge, price, and guarantee are not defined, stop and define them (see gym-transformation-challenge for the offer, gym-pricing-and-guarantees for price and guarantee). Do not write a single ad before this is fixed.

2. Build the shortest funnel that converts. Every extra step loses people.

   • Ad: sells the challenge with a clear hook and offer.
   • Lead capture: a native Meta lead form (fast, low CPL, lower intent) or a landing page (higher intent, needs copy). Define the conversion event as the lead submission.
   • Automated booking: the instant a lead submits, fire a text plus a booking link for the intro consult.
   • Consult: the low-pressure intro where the challenge or membership is sold.
   • Track the full path - ad to lead to booked to shown to sold - not just to lead.

3. Write the creative as hook + angle stack. Every ad is hook, problem, mechanism, proof, offer, call to action.

   • Hook: stop the scroll; call out the avatar and the pain ("Busy mom with no time to train?", "Down to your last 15 pounds and stuck?").
   • Problem: name the pain in their words.
   • Mechanism: why this challenge works (small group, done-for-you plan, coaching).
   • Proof: a result, a number, a before-and-after.
   • Offer: the challenge, price, deadline, CTA. Produce 5 to 10 variations across angles (busy professional, postpartum, strength/over 40, weight loss, bridal/event, beginner, corporate, testimonial-led). Use the ad-script-pack below to draft, references/ad-anatomy for finished examples.

4. Set targeting and budget.

   • Targeting: a local radius around the gym (commonly 5 to 10 miles), the avatar's age range, broad interests. Let Meta optimize; do not over-narrow.
   • Budget: start with enough daily spend to gather signal, then let data accumulate. Run ad_budget_planner.js to turn the fill goal into daily spend, expected leads, and the breakeven cost per lead the offer allows.

5. Read funnel costs, not vanity CPL. Track cost per lead, cost per booked, cost per show, cost per sale. Judge against the breakeven from the planner. A higher CPL that produces members beats a cheap lead that never shows. See references/funnel-and-tracking.

6. Scale or kill on signal, not on a single day.

   • Scale a winner by raising budget 20 to 30 percent at a time once cost per booked is stable across several days. Large jumps reset learning.
   • Kill a creative whose cost per lead runs well above the set after enough spend to judge fairly. Replace it with a fresh angle.
   • Keep a queue of new angles so a winner's fatigue never leaves you dark.

7. Hand the lead off immediately. A booked lead is worthless if no one calls. The instant a lead submits, the follow-up clock starts; route it to objection-handling-and-speed-to-lead, where the rule is contact within minutes.

• The offer, price, and guarantee are fixed before any ad is written.
• Every ad carries the full stack: hook, problem, mechanism, proof, offer, CTA - plus scarcity and urgency.
• The funnel tracks ad to lead to booked to shown to sold; decisions are made on cost per sale against breakeven, never on CPL alone.
• Scale and kill decisions wait for several days of stable signal, not one good or bad day.

Do NOT

• Do not sell the gym, the equipment, or the trainers in the ad. Sell the challenge outcome.
• Do not over-narrow targeting or stack interests; broad plus a local radius lets Meta optimize.
• Do not judge ads by cost per lead alone - a cheap lead that never shows costs more than an expensive one that closes.
• Do not raise budget in large jumps or kill a creative on a single bad day; both throw away learning.
• Do not run ads against an undefined or weak offer expecting volume to fix it.

Verdict: target CPL is below breakeven. Front-end self-funds.

Read it: $1,500 a month is $50 a day, which at a $25 cost per lead buys 60 leads and about 24 challengers, past the goal of 20. You only need $1,250 to hit 20, so there is room. Breakeven cost per lead is $151.60, so even if leads got six times more expensive the front-end would still cover itself - plenty of margin to test.

Track the whole path, not the cheapest top-of-funnel number:

• Cost per lead. Ad spend divided by leads. Useful only alongside the rates below.
• Cost per booked. Spend divided by booked consults. Reveals whether leads are real.
• Cost per show. Spend divided by consults that show. Reveals follow-up quality.
• Cost per sale. Spend divided by members. The number that matters.

Rough local-gym benchmarks: cost per lead $5 to $40 depending on market, lead to booked around 50 percent, booked to show around 70 percent, show to sale 30 to 50 percent. Use your own numbers once you have two weeks of data. Compare cost per sale to the breakeven from ad_budget_planner.js, not to a vanity CPL.
