Instructions

Step 1: Identify the Platform Mix

Choose platforms based on audience and goals. Israeli platform landscape (DataReportal Digital 2026, figures for late 2025):

Methodology notes: the Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok figures are DataReportal Digital 2026 ad-reach numbers (TikTok's is the 18+ figure), so some under-18 users are excluded and true totals are higher. The 7.7M Facebook figure is NapoleonCat's all-ages count for July 2026 (7,705,800, a different methodology), shown for context. LinkedIn counts registered members, not monthly active users. For raw scale, YouTube is actually Israel's largest platform (7M); Facebook (5.05M) and Instagram (5M) are roughly tied. Treat all as directional and re-verify against the current DataReportal Israel report before quoting a number to a client.

Decision criteria:

• B2C local business (restaurant, salon, shop) -> Facebook groups + Instagram
• B2B / tech startup -> LinkedIn + Facebook professional groups
• Targeting under-30 audience -> TikTok + Instagram Reels
• Community building -> Facebook groups (still the #1 discovery channel in Israel)

Step 2: Write Hebrew Social Copy

Write in spoken Hebrew (ivrit meduberet), not formal written Hebrew. Key rules:

1. Hook first. The first line determines whether users stop scrolling. Lead with a bold claim, question, or personal story.
2. Use contractions naturally. Write "אני לא" not "אינני". Write "יש לי" not "ברשותי".
3. Paragraph breaks for mobile. Israeli web traffic is 53.62% mobile and 44.91% desktop (StatCounter, July 2026). The "over 70% mobile" figure that circulates is not supported for Israel, and no social-specific Israeli mobile share is published at all, so do not quote one. Write for a phone screen anyway, one idea per paragraph with blank lines between, but do not treat desktop as negligible when the same copy is reused on a landing page.
4. Dugri tone wins. Israeli audiences respond to direct, honest, personal content. Corporate-polished copy underperforms consistently.
5. Bilingual when relevant. Tech and business terms stay in English (SaaS, ROI, B2B). Do not transliterate.

Step 2b: Disclose AI-Generated Content (2026)

If you use AI to generate or substantially alter visuals or audio, both Meta and TikTok require disclosure, but their scopes differ and their label names have already been renamed once, so read the current policy page rather than reusing a label name from a deck.

1. TikTok (documented). TikTok requires creators to label all AI-generated content that contains realistic images, audio and video, and it also applies an automatic "AI-generated" label to content it identifies as fully generated or significantly AI-edited. That auto-label fires when you use TikTok AI effects or upload a file carrying Content Credentials, the C2PA provenance metadata that most AI tools now embed. Once the auto-label is applied you cannot remove it, so decide your framing before you upload, not after.
2. Meta. Meta requires labelling for photorealistic video and realistic-sounding audio, and the scope for still images is narrower than for TikTok. Meta has renamed this control at least once, so open the current Meta help page for the exact toggle name and the exact scope before a campaign instead of trusting a remembered label.
3. Repeated non-disclosure of realistic AI content can get posts demoted, ads rejected, or the account restricted.
4. Lightly stylized graphics, text overlays, and obvious illustrations generally do not need a label; realistic depictions of people, voices, or events do.

Step 3: Apply Platform-Specific Strategy

Facebook: Groups are the primary channel. Post types that perform: personal stories, hot takes, advice requests, polls. Page-only strategies underperform. Identify and join relevant groups (city, professional, interest-based).

Group conduct, and this is where Israeli brands actually lose accounts, not on content quality:

• Read the group's pinned rules and get admin permission before any commercial post. Most Israeli groups require it and ban on sight otherwise.
• Never post the same or near-identical copy across multiple groups. Cross-group duplication is the standard trigger under Meta's spam and inauthentic-behaviour standards, and it is the most common way an Israeli brand loses its page or a manager loses their personal profile (which can orphan the page if that profile is the only admin, so keep more than one admin).
• Disclose the commercial interest. A brand representative posting a "personal story" or an "advice request" as an ordinary member is the disguised-advertising pattern, and Israeli consumer-protection law prohibits misleading a consumer in a way that reaches this. Mark it (#פרסומת, בשיתוף, or a plain גילוי נאות: אני מ...). The format still works with the disclosure attached; what does not survive is being caught without it.

Instagram: Reels still lead organic reach. Practitioner analysis widely reports that watch time and "sends" (DM shares per reach) now carry the most weight and that likes have been downgraded, and that carousels edge out Reels on engagement rate for educational, save-worthy content. Treat both as industry read, not platform fact: Instagram's own published ranking explainer still lists likes, comments, shares and saves as signals and says nothing about watch time, sends-per-reach, or any carousel-versus-Reels comparison. Making content worth sending to a friend is good advice either way; do not quote a ranking hierarchy to a client as if Instagram had published it. Hebrew captions with line breaks. Stories for daily engagement (polls, Q&A, behind-the-scenes). Use Hebrew text overlays on visuals.

TikTok: Hebrew audio is widely reported by Israeli practitioners to outperform English audio with this audience, and it is the safe default, though no platform or research source publishes a figure for it. The algorithm rewards retention, not raw length, so match length to intent rather than always cutting to a fixed duration. Practitioner benchmarks commonly land around 21-34 seconds for entertainment and 60-90 seconds for informative or search-driven content; TikTok publishes no optimal-length guidance of its own, so treat those bands as a starting point to test, not a rule. Trends move fast, localize global trends with Israeli context. Duets and Stitches drive engagement.

Audio licensing is an account-type question, not a taste question. The general in-app sound catalogue that carries most trending audio is licensed for personal, non-commercial use. A business or brand account that builds on a trending pop sound risks having the audio muted or the video removed, which lands precisely on the launch you planned it for. Business accounts should use the platform's commercially-licensed audio catalogue, or original audio. For Israeli content that is rarely a loss: an original Hebrew voiceover outperforms a foreign-language trending sound with this audience anyway, and a trend can be recreated with original audio. The same personal-versus-commercial split applies on Meta surfaces. Check the current music terms for the account type before a campaign.

LinkedIn: Israeli tech ecosystem content performs exceptionally. Mix: industry insights (40%), company culture (30%), product (20%), hiring (10%). Hebrew posts get higher engagement from Israeli audience but English extends global reach.

Step 3b: Format Specs for Vertical Video and Overlays

Current specs for Reels and TikTok (verify against the platform docs in Reference Links before a production handoff):

• Reels and TikTok video: 1080 x 1920 px, 9:16 aspect ratio, MP4 (H.264). This fills a phone screen edge to edge.
• Hebrew subtitles are not optional. Most social video is watched muted, so a Hebrew-voiceover-only Reel reaches neither a muted scroller nor a deaf viewer, and Israeli service-accessibility duties push captioned media toward being the baseline for a business. Burn in Hebrew subtitles or use the platform's caption tool, and add alt text on image posts. Budget the safe zone for them: subtitles compete for the same central band as your text overlays, so place overlays high and leave the lower-middle clear.
• Hebrew text overlays: keep them inside the central safe zone. The bottom ~20% of the frame is covered by the caption, audio credit, and interaction buttons, and the top ~10% by the platform UI, so do not place Hebrew copy there. Center Hebrew text horizontally so RTL alignment does not collide with the right-side action rail.
• TikTok caption: 2,200 characters, and hashtags and mentions count toward it. That is the only figure TikTok publishes (its Content Posting API states "The maximum length is 2200 in UTF-16 runes"); TikTok's consumer help centre gives no caption limit at all. Higher figures circulate in marketing blogs, do not use them. TikTok also publishes no truncation point, so assume the caption is cut early in the feed and front-load the Hebrew hook rather than planning against a specific character count.
• Instagram caption: up to 2,200 characters, up to 30 hashtags and up to 20 @ tags, per Meta's Instagram Platform media reference. Instagram still recommends a small targeted set (3-5 is the practical sweet spot, see Step 4).

Step 3c: RTL Caption Formatting (Hebrew, English, Emoji, Hashtags)

This is the most common Israel-specific technical failure. A caption that mixes Hebrew, English words, emoji, and Latin-script hashtags often flips reading direction mid-line, and punctuation (a period, comma, or !) lands on the wrong side of the line.

The failure mode, stated precisely, because getting it approximately right leads people to the wrong repair. Under the Unicode Bidirectional Algorithm (UAX #9, rule P2), a paragraph's base direction is set by the first character of type L, AL or R, that is, the first strong letter. Digits are type EN and emoji and punctuation are type ON. Neither is strong, so both are skipped. The consequences:

• A line opening with a Latin-script word flips to left-to-right and the Hebrew looks broken. This is the real culprit, and it is the only one of the four.
• A line opening with a digit (2026 שנה טובה) or an emoji (🔥 מבצע חדש) is fine. The algorithm skips them and takes direction from the Hebrew.
• A hashtag flips a line only when its text is Latin script. #StartupNation at line start flips; #ישראל does not. The # itself is neutral and irrelevant.

So if a caption renders wrong and you delete the leading emoji and nothing changes, stop deleting emoji and go find the leading Latin word.

The fix:

• Start every Hebrew line with a Hebrew letter. This is still the right habit, because it is one rule instead of four and it is never wrong.
• Put Latin-script hashtags and mentions on their own lines at the end of the caption, not inline inside Hebrew sentences.
• For an unavoidable inline English term inside a Hebrew sentence, wrap the run in isolates: RLI (U+2067) before and PDI (U+2069) after. Isolates are the correct modern tool because they stop adjacent neutrals and digits leaking across the boundary, which is the actual bug here. The older Right-to-Left Mark (RLM, U+200F) and Left-to-Right Mark (LRM, U+200E) still work as a fallback. Arabic text uses ALM (U+061C) rather than RLM. Note that some composers strip invisible control characters, so verify after pasting.
• Keep punctuation tight against the Hebrew word it belongs to; if it still jumps, an RLM right after the punctuation anchors it.
• Test in the actual app composer, not a desktop editor, on both iOS and Android. Also test with the app UI set to English, not just Hebrew: where a surface takes its direction from the viewer's app language rather than auto-detecting, the same caption renders differently for a Hebrew-UI and an English-UI viewer, and testing only on your own device hides that.

Step 4: Build Hashtag Strategy

Hebrew hashtag rules:

• No underscores: #סטארטאפישראלי (correct) not #סטארטאפ_ישראלי (wrong)
• No spaces (Hebrew words concatenate naturally)
• Mix 2-3 popular tags + 2-3 niche tags per post
• Popular: #ישראל #תלאביב #שיווקדיגיטלי #הייטקישראלי #סטארטאפ #עסקיםקטנים

Step 5: Schedule Around Israeli Calendar

Before using any of this, note whose calendar it is. The work week and quiet day below describe the Hebrew-speaking Jewish audience. They are not universal Israeli facts: for an Arab-Israeli audience, roughly a fifth of the country, the weekly rest day and work week differ, and Ramadan and the two Eids matter the way Tishrei does here. If the brand addresses that audience, build its calendar separately rather than assuming this one; if the brand does not, say so deliberately rather than by omission. A large Russian-speaking audience also has its own community groups.

• Work week: Sunday-Thursday. Sunday morning is the highest-engagement window (start of week).
• Peak times: 8-9 AM, 12-1 PM, 7-9 PM (Israel time, UTC+2/+3). These hours, and every day and cadence in scripts/posting_scheduler.py, are practitioner starting points, not published benchmarks: no platform publishes optimal posting times for Israel. Replace them with the account's own analytics as soon as you have four weeks of data.
• Shabbat: No posting Friday afternoon through Saturday evening. Engagement drops to near-zero.
• Holidays to avoid commercial content: Yom Kippur (total blackout), Yom HaZikaron (memorial day), Yom HaShoah (Holocaust remembrance day, statutory memorial day with a national siren, and the same class of no-post day as Yom HaZikaron), and 7 October, now a fixed annual memorial date. Yom HaZikaron runs into Yom Ha'atzmaut at nightfall, so a single evening flips from total blackout to celebration: a scheduled post that straddles that transition lands on the wrong side of it.
• Holidays to leverage: Rosh Hashana (greetings), Hanukkah (promotions), Purim (fun content), Yom Ha'atzmaut (national pride)

Calendar dynamics to plan around:

• Hebrew-calendar dates shift every Gregorian year. Do not hardcode a fixed date for any Jewish holiday. Pull the current year's dates from a Hebrew-calendar source (for example Hebcal) when you build a schedule.
• Sukkot and Pesach are week-long low-engagement windows, not single days. Many Israelis take the whole week off (chol hamoed). Treat the full span as reduced reach, and plan a content push for "after the chagim" instead.
• The Tishrei cluster (Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, usually September-October) is a multi-week slowdown. "Acharei hachagim" (after the holidays) is a real planning unit Israelis use.
• August is a summer slowdown (school break, vacations).
• Election days are a national day off in Israel and engagement patterns shift; commercial content underperforms and political content is sensitive. Check whether an election or campaign period overlaps your calendar.
• Have a kill switch, and name who holds it. This is the part of an Israeli social manager's job that no scheduler handles. When a security event, a siren wave, a hostage or casualty announcement, or a major state funeral breaks, every queued commercial post must stop within minutes, not at the next working hour. Decide in advance who is authorised to pause the queue, make sure at least two people can reach the scheduling tool, and agree what has to be true before content resumes. A scheduled promotion firing into a siren is the single worst thing this skill can cause, and it is entirely preventable.

Gotchas

• Facebook is still central in Israel, and its groups are the #1 community/discovery channel, unlike the US where it skews older. On raw scale it is now roughly tied with Instagram (~5M ad reach each, behind YouTube), so the case for Facebook is the groups, not headline user count. Agents may wrongly deprioritize Facebook groups based on US trends.
• Israeli social media engagement drops dramatically from Friday afternoon through Saturday evening (Shabbat). Agents may schedule posts during this period and see near-zero engagement.
• Hebrew social copy must use spoken Hebrew (ivrit meduberet), not formal written Hebrew. Agents often produce overly formal Hebrew that feels robotic to Israeli audiences.
• Hebrew hashtags must not contain underscores or spaces. The correct format is #סטארטאפישראלי not #סטארטאפ_ישראלי. Agents may apply English hashtag formatting conventions.
• Israeli audiences respond strongly to personal stories and "dugri" (blunt, honest) content. Corporate-polished messaging that works in the US consistently underperforms in Israeli social media.
• Mixed Hebrew/English captions flip reading direction and misplace punctuation. The first strong letter in a line sets its base direction (UAX #9 rule P2), so a Hebrew line starting with a Latin-script word or a Latin-script hashtag renders left-to-right and looks broken. Digits and emoji are NOT strong and do not cause this, which is why deleting a leading emoji never fixes anything. Agents commonly restate this rule wrongly and send the user after the emoji instead of the English word. Always lead Hebrew lines with a Hebrew letter.
• TikTok's ownership and governance have changed recently, so any TikTok policy, data-handling or feature claim should be re-verified against current TikTok documentation rather than assumed from older sources or from a deck. This skill deliberately does not restate the ownership details, because the version that was carried here previously was cited to an article that predated the events it described.
• Practitioners widely report that a clickable external link in a caption costs organic reach, and putting the link in the first comment or the bio is standard practice for that reason. Do not present it as a documented Meta rule and do not quote a percentage. Meta's published list of demoted content covers clickbait links, engagement bait, fact-checked misinformation and likely-violating content; external links and any reach-reduction figure appear nowhere on it. A "roughly 15%" penalty circulates in marketing writing with no Meta source behind it. The practice is still worth following, and the phrase "link in bio" as plain text is not itself a link, so it carries no penalty under any version of this claim.
