Overview

This skill covers how to re-engage dormant leads and win back churned customers in B2B marketing contexts. It addresses sequencing, tone, sender selection, and messaging strategy for both cold/dormant prospects and fully churned accounts. Re-engaging Dormant or Cold Leads

When reaching out to leads who were previously in your sales process but have gone cold, follow this sequence:

Winning Back Churned (Boomerang) Customers

Churned customers represent a broken trust relationship, not just a lapsed contract. The approach must reflect that.

1. Give it time first. Segment your win-back ABM efforts by how long ago the customer churned. Let emotions settle before making contact. Reaching out too soon risks reinforcing the negative experience that caused them to leave. (Source: Chris Rack, Episode #150)
2. Lead with honesty and humor, not product updates. Open with a message that directly acknowledges the company fell short — something like "I'm sorry, we sucked" — and admits that vendors and humans miss sometimes. What NOT To Do

• Do not open a win-back or re-engagement message with product features or benefits. Leading with what's new or improved signals you are prioritizing the sale over the relationship.
