The Core Reframe: Status Quo Is the Real Competitor

Before writing a single word of outbound copy, establish this foundational mindset with the user: in most B2B sales cycles, the primary competitor is not another vendor — it is the prospect's current way of doing things.

The Four-Question Framework for Building Outbound Messaging

When a user needs to build outbound messaging from scratch, or diagnose why existing messaging isn't working, guide them through this four-question framework. Recommend they work through it collaboratively with sales, product, and leadership:

Perception Curiosity Cold Email Structure

When helping a user write or rewrite a cold email, follow this five-part structure designed to trigger perception curiosity (the cognitive itch that occurs when someone encounters information that contradicts what they believe to be true):

1. Subject line: Write a subject line that prompts opening by referencing the prospect's context or a surprising outcome — not your product. Example: "Uber bill" rather than "[Company] + [Prospect Company]." (Source: Jen Allen-Knuth, Episode #343)
2. Establish context with a relevant statistic: Open the body by grounding the prospect in their own world. Use a specific, credible data point that reflects their environment or behavior. Example: "Chicago gets 119 rainy days a year." (Source: Jen Allen-Knuth, Episode #343)
