SEO Opportunity Research
Use this skill to find SEO opportunities that come from user needs and product advantages, not just keyword-tool exports. It is especially useful when the best opportunity is under-measured, emerging, long-tail, or hard for competitors to copy.
This skill is derived from Eli Schwartz's Product-Led SEO and uses transformed guidance with durable book-topic references. Do not copy book prose into user outputs.
Quick Start
- Load
guidelines.mdto choose the right reference. - Use
workflows/find-seo-opportunities.mdfor a full research pass. - Start with customers, communities, product strengths, and search behavior.
- Use competitors to learn intent and gaps, not to clone their roadmap.
- Return prioritized opportunities with evidence, product surface, moat, and next validation step.
Default Output
When asked to research opportunities, return:
- Opportunity themes - grouped by user need or product surface.
- Evidence - customer, community, Search Console, SERP, competitor, or proxy evidence.
- Product-led surface - what should be built.
- Moat - why the opportunity is defensible.
- Validation step - how to test demand or feasibility.
- Priority - impact, confidence, effort, and time-to-signal.
