Overview
This skill creates and updates technical documentation for any project. It generates documentation appropriate to the project's language and framework.
Supports:
- API documentation (REST, GraphQL, gRPC)
- README files
- Architecture guides
- Code comments (JSDoc, Javadoc, docstrings, XML docs, etc.)
- Changelog entries
- Migration guides
Execution Flow
1. Analyze Documentation Needs
Find existing documentation:
- Glob for
README.md,*.md,docs/**/* - Check project CLAUDE.md for documentation conventions
Find undocumented public APIs (patterns vary by language):
- TypeScript/JavaScript:
export function,export class - Python: Functions/classes without docstrings
- Java: Public methods without Javadoc
- Go: Exported functions without doc comments
- C#: Public members without XML docs
Check documentation coverage by searching for doc comment patterns in source files.
2. Documentation Types
API Documentation
For each public API endpoint, generate documentation including:
## [METHOD] /api/[resource]
Brief description of what the endpoint does.
### Request
Document request body schema with field descriptions and constraints.
Use the project's type definition format (TypeScript, JSON Schema, etc.).
### Response
Document response schema with field descriptions.
### Errors

Use the appropriate documentation format for the project language:

## System Components
Use ASCII diagrams or Mermaid to show component relationships:

3. Update Existing Documentation

- No outdated information
- Consistent formatting

Best Practices
This skill inherits the kit-wide best practices from .claude/rules/skill-standards.md § Dimension 2:
- FETCH BEFORE CITE — read source files before claiming behavior; never reference a function or contract without opening it (per
rules/verification-protocol.md) - Anti-hallucination — when a category produces no findings, state that explicitly. Never pad to fill the category
- Output Contract — every emitted finding/artifact carries: severity tag (
