Test Task Generation

Overview

This skill enables automatic generation of test tasks whenever implementation tasks are created. It ensures comprehensive test coverage by mapping feature types to required test categories and generating acceptance criteria for each test.

Core Principle

Every implementation task must have a corresponding test task.

Business Logic Detection

Indicators:
- Pure functions
- Domain models

Database Operation Detection

Indicators:
- ORM/Query builder usage
- Schema changes
- Migration files
- Repository patterns

- [ ] No external dependencies

For Integration Tests

- [ ] Database interactions verified
- [ ] External service mocks configured
- [ ] Transaction handling tested
- [ ] Cleanup after tests

For E2E Tests

- [ ] User journey complete
- [ ] All UI interactions work
- [ ] Data persists correctly
- [ ] Error states handled
- [ ] Performance acceptable

For Security Tests

Best Practices

DO

• Generate test tasks immediately after implementation tasks
• Include specific acceptance criteria
• Map test files to implementation files
• Set realistic coverage targets
• Include edge cases in criteria

DON'T

• Skip test task generation for "simple" features
• Generate vague acceptance criteria
• Ignore optional test types for critical features
• Set coverage targets below minimums
• Create test tasks without parent reference

Quality Gates

Before a feature can be marked as "done":

1. All test tasks completed - Every generated test task must be done
2. Coverage met - Each test type meets minimum coverage
3. Tests passing - All tests in CI pipeline pass
4. No regressions - Existing tests still pass
5. Evidence provided - Test reports attached
