📋 Character Matrix

🎭 Character Profiles

Elena Rodriguez (S01 - Bicep Baseline)

"I've managed infrastructure for a decade. I know what secure looks like. I just need help translating that to Azure."

• Background: 10 years VMware/Windows Server, first Azure project
• Motivation: Prove cloud skills while maintaining security standards
• Pain Point: Learning curve of IaC + cloud simultaneously
• Success Metric: Deploy production-ready network in < 1 hour

Demo Hook: "Meet Elena. She's the expert everyone relies on for infrastructure decisions. But today, she's the student—learning Azure IaC for the first time."

Jennifer Chen (S02 - Agentic Workflow)

"My clients pay for architecture, not typing. Every hour I spend on boilerplate is an hour I'm not designing solutions."

• Background: SI Partner Solutions Architect, healthcare specialization
• Motivation: Deliver client projects faster without sacrificing quality
• Pain Point: Context loss between design and implementation phases
• Success Metric: Requirements to deployable code in < 1 hour

Demo Hook: "Jennifer has a new client engagement. HIPAA compliance, tight budget, ambitious timeline. Watch how the 7-step workflow becomes her secret weapon."

Priya Sharma (S03 - Documentation Generation)

"I have 50 servers to document and one week to do it. There has to be a better way than interviewing every admin."

• Background: Senior Technical Writer, enterprise migrations
• Motivation: Comprehensive docs without burning out
• Pain Point: Subject matter experts too busy for interviews
• Success Metric: Complete migration docs from infrastructure code alone

Demo Hook: "Priya's deadline is impossible. Or is it? Watch how Copilot turns infrastructure code into comprehensive documentation in hours, not weeks."

Marcus Chen (S04 - Service Validation)

"The code works. The tests pass. But does it actually do what the business needs? That's the question that keeps me up at night."

• Background: Senior QA Engineer, validation consulting
• Motivation: Bridge gap between technical testing and business outcomes
• Pain Point: Manual UAT is slow and error-prone
• Success Metric: Automated validation tied to business requirements

Demo Hook: "Marcus has seen too many 'successful' deployments fail in production. His mission: prove the system actually delivers what stakeholders need."

Maya Patel (S05 - Troubleshooting)

"It's 2 AM. Checkout is broken. Revenue is bleeding. I have 15 minutes to figure out what's wrong before my VP starts calling."

• Background: On-Call SRE, retail operations
• Motivation: Fast diagnosis, faster resolution
• Pain Point: Cryptic error messages, log analysis paralysis
• Success Metric: MTTR reduced from hours to minutes

Demo Hook: "Maya's phone just buzzed. PagerDuty. Production incident. Watch how Copilot becomes her diagnostic partner at 2 AM."

Sarah Chen (S06 - SBOM Generator)

"Mayo Clinic needs an SBOM in 48 hours or we lose the $2M contract. I've never created one before. Where do I even start?"

• Background: Security Engineer, healthcare SaaS
• Motivation: Meet enterprise customer compliance requirements
• Pain Point: Zero SBOM experience, tight deadline
• Success Metric: CycloneDX-compliant SBOM in 48 hours

Demo Hook: "Sarah just got the email that every security engineer dreads. An enterprise customer needs a Software Bill of Materials—yesterday."

David Kim (S07 - Diagrams as Code)

"I have a design review in 2 hours. My diagrams are stuck in a Visio file on a laptop that's not here. I need to recreate the architecture—fast."

• Background: Solutions Architect, technical presentations
• Motivation: Professional diagrams from any device
• Pain Point: Proprietary diagram tools, version control nightmares
• Success Metric: Python-generated diagrams in < 20 minutes

Demo Hook: "David's presentation is in 2 hours. His diagrams are on another computer. Watch how Python and Copilot save his design review."

Alex Petrov (S08 - Coding Agent)

"The platform goes live in 24 hours. We just realized we have no monitoring. I can't be in two places at once—but maybe my AI assistant can."

• Background: Cloud Operations Engineer, startup environment
• Motivation: Parallel execution of infrastructure tasks
• Pain Point: More work than hours, need async help
• Success Metric: Monitoring implemented while focusing on other priorities

Demo Hook: "Alex's presentation is in 24 hours and a list of 10 tasks. The coding agent can work on monitoring while Alex handles the deployment pipeline."

Kai Nakamura (S09 - Terraform Dual-Track)

"We have 200+ Terraform modules across 40 Azure subscriptions. The team wants Copilot-assisted infrastructure, but they won't give up HCL. Show me it works with Terraform — not just Bicep."

• Background: Platform Engineer, multi-cloud Terraform estate at an SI partner
• Motivation: Adopt agentic workflows without rewriting existing HCL modules
• Pain Point: Team resistance to Bicep, existing Terraform investment too large to abandon
• Success Metric: End-to-end Terraform workflow from requirements to deployment in < 1 hour

Demo Hook: "Kai's team writes Terraform. Period. They've heard about Agentic InfraOps but assumed it's Bicep-only. Today, Kai discovers the dual-track workflow — and the Terraform agents feel like they were built for teams exactly like theirs."

🎬 Storytelling Tips

Building Narrative Arc

1. Introduce the character - Name, role, company (30 seconds)
2. Establish the challenge - What's at stake? (30 seconds)
3. Show the transformation - Demo the solution (5-15 minutes)
4. Celebrate the outcome - Time saved, quality gained (30 seconds)

Character Selection by Audience

Connecting Characters

Some characters can reference each other for continuity:

• Elena (S01) could be a colleague of Jennifer (S02) at Meridian
• Sarah (S06) works at HealthTech, whose patient portal might be built by Jennifer's team
• Maya (S05) and Alex (S08) both deal with production operations

📊 Time Savings by Character

Use these characters to transform technical demos into memorable stories. The technology is impressive—but the human impact is what resonates.
