Comprehensive UI and Performance Enhancement Features

Comprehensive UI and Performance Enhancement Features

Version Implemented: 0.229.001

Overview

This document covers multiple interrelated features that collectively enhance SimpleChat's user interface, performance, and user experience: Group Name Display in Workspace Scope Selection, Personal and Group Workspace UI Improvements, Personal Workspace Renaming, Dramatic File Upload Performance, 50x Tabular Data Performance Improvement, Smart HTTP Plugin with PDF Support, User-Friendly Feedback/Safety Display, and Improved Group Management UI.

1. Group Name Display in Workspace Scope Selection

Purpose

Enhances workspace navigation by displaying actual group names instead of generic identifiers in the workspace scope selector, making it easier for users to identify and switch between different group contexts.

Technical Implementation

class WorkspaceScopeManager {
    constructor() {
        this.groupsCache = new Map();
        this.initializeSelector();
    }

    async loadGroupNames() {
        try {
            const response = await fetch('/api/user/groups');
            const groups = await response.json();

            groups.forEach(group => {
                this.groupsCache.set(group.id, {
                    name: group.name,
                    description: group.description,
                    memberCount: group.memberCount
                });
            });

            this.updateSelectorOptions();
        } catch (error) {
            console.error('Failed to load group names:', error);
        }
    }

    updateSelectorOptions() {
        const selector = document.querySelector('#workspace-scope');

        // Clear existing group options
        Array.from(selector.options).forEach(option => {
            if (option.value.startsWith('group:')) {
                option.remove();
            }
        });

        // Add updated group options
        this.groupsCache.forEach((groupData, groupId) => {
            const option = document.createElement('option');
            option.value = `group:${groupId}`;
            option.textContent = `Group: ${groupData.name}`;
            option.setAttribute('data-member-count', groupData.memberCount);
            option.title = groupData.description || `${groupData.memberCount} members`;

            selector.appendChild(option);
        });
    }
}

CSS Enhancement

.workspace-scope-selector select {
    min-width: 250px;
    max-width: 350px;
}

.workspace-scope-selector option[value^="group:"] {
    font-weight: 500;
    color: var(--group-color);
}

.workspace-scope-selector option[value^="group:"]::before {
    content: "👥 ";
}

.workspace-scope-selector option[value="personal"]::before {
    content: "👤 ";
}

.workspace-scope-selector option[value="public"]::before {
    content: "🌐 ";
}

2. Improved UI for Personal and Group Workspaces

Purpose

Provides a more intuitive and visually appealing interface for managing documents and content across personal and group workspaces with enhanced filtering, sorting, and organization capabilities.

Enhanced Workspace Interface

3. Personal Workspace Renaming (from "Your Workspace")

Purpose

Provides clearer, more personalized terminology by renaming "Your Workspace" to "Personal Workspace" throughout the interface, improving user understanding and consistency.

Implementation Details

class WorkspaceTerminologyUpdater {
    static updateWorkspaceLabels() {
        const updates = {
            'Your Workspace': 'Personal Workspace',
            'Your Documents': 'Personal Documents',
            'Your Files': 'Personal Files',
            'My Workspace': 'Personal Workspace',
            'Individual Workspace': 'Personal Workspace'
        };

        // Update all text content
        document.querySelectorAll('*').forEach(element => {
            if (element.children.length === 0) {
                const text = element.textContent.trim();
                if (updates[text]) {
                    element.textContent = updates[text];
                }
            }
        });

        // Update placeholders and titles
        document.querySelectorAll('[placeholder], [title], [aria-label]').forEach(element => {
            ['placeholder', 'title', 'aria-label'].forEach(attr => {
                const value = element.getAttribute(attr);
                if (value && updates[value]) {
                    element.setAttribute(attr, updates[value]);
                }
            });
        });
    }

        document.querySelectorAll('.workspace-personal').forEach(element => {
