Research – YOLO System Removal Verification

Date: 2026-01-26 Owner: Claude (research agent) Phase: Research Git commit: 84ce4ff3 Git branch: master Repo: alchemiststudiosDOTai/tunacode

Goal

Verify whether the YOLO (You Only Live Once) permission system has been completely removed from the codebase after the recent permission system deletion work.

Findings

Status: COMPLETE ✅

The YOLO system has been fully removed from the source code. Zero YOLO references remain in src/ or tests/.

Verification Results by File

File/Directory	Status	Notes
`src/tunacode/tools/authorization/`	REMOVED	All `.py` files deleted. Only `__pycache__/` with `.pyc` files remains (harmless bytecode cache)
`src/tunacode/ui/commands/__init__.py`	CLEAN	`YoloCommand` removed from `COMMANDS` dict
`src/tunacode/core/state.py`	CLEAN	`yolo`, `tool_ignore`, `tool_handler` fields removed from `SessionState`
`src/tunacode/types/state.py`	CLEAN	`AuthorizationProtocol` removed
`src/tunacode/types/dataclasses.py`	CLEAN	`ToolConfirmationRequest`, `ToolConfirmationResponse` removed
`src/tunacode/constants.py`	CLEAN	No YOLO constants found

Current Commands (After YoloCommand Removal)

help
clear
debug
model
theme
resume
update

Remaining Artifacts (Expected)

1. Documentation/Research Files

memory-bank/research/2026-01-26_17-34-12_permission-system-removal-map.md - Historical research doc (keep)
.tickets/psr-ba9c.md - References YoloCommand removal (ticket should be updated/closed)
.tickets/psr-53c0.md - References yolo field removal (ticket should be updated/closed)

2. Bytecode Cache

src/tunacode/tools/authorization/__pycache__/ - 11 .pyc files from previous compilation

Cleanup command (optional):

rm -rf src/tunacode/tools/authorization/

Broken Imports/References

None found. All code references to the YOLO system have been successfully removed. No import errors or dangling references detected.

Conclusion

The YOLO system removal is functionally complete. The permission system referenced in PR #246 and the associated research document has been fully implemented and cleaned up.

No further action required unless you want to:

Delete the __pycache__ directory for cleanliness
Update/close the related tickets (psr-ba9c, psr-53c0)
