Continuous Mixxx DJ

Use the Mixxx controls to maintain an uninterrupted two-deck live set until the user explicitly asks to pause or stop.

Fixed sound

• Apply these settings to every loaded track on both decks: low 4.0 (maximum), mid 0.25, high 1.5, volume 0.8.
• Play only rap or house. Never select rock tracks.
• Keep sync enabled and choose harmonically compatible tracks near the live deck's BPM.
• Prefer stable files under ~/Music/. Do not use transient files under ~/Library/Caches/Mixxx/subsonic/.

Continuous mixing

• Never intentionally insert silence. Inspect the live state before changing anything and never overwrite the playing deck.
• Default to a long mix session. When the library allows, build at least 25 varied, compatible tracks instead of a short queue.
• Load and prepare the idle deck early. Start it behind the fully closed crossfader with about 55–60 seconds remaining on the outgoing track; verify that it is playing and contains the expected track.
• Start every crossfade when the outgoing track reaches exactly 85% of its duration (15% remaining).
• Crossfade smoothly for exactly 12 seconds. Keep both decks playing through the fade, then stop only the outgoing deck after the fade completes.
• During the fade, cut the outgoing deck's low EQ to 0. Restore its fixed EQ after it is stopped.
• Immediately after each transition, prepare the newly idle deck for the following transition. Do not wait until the live track is near its end.
• When building or replacing the Auto DJ queue, make every successive track a close BPM and Camelot-compatible match for the track before it, while preserving the rap-or-house-only rule.
• Keep the queue varied: never follow a song with another version or remix of the same song.
• Use event-based waiting for timed actions rather than repeated polling. Continue the control loop across tracks until the user says pause or stop; resume immediately when they say continue.

Scratches

• Add frequent periodic scratch bursts on the live deck, including after transitions when musically appropriate.
• Enable slip mode for each scratch burst so playback timing remains intact.
• Keep bursts short and rhythmic, reset the scratch control to zero, disable scratching, and turn slip mode off after each burst.
• Do not let scratching delay pre-roll or the 85% transition trigger.

Transition variety

• Apply a creative transition treatment to every handoff, and never repeat the same style consecutively.
• Rotate musically appropriate combinations of smooth or linear fades, crossfader or channel-volume blends, bass swaps, opposing filter sweeps, slip-mode scratch cuts, and brief beat-aligned cuts.
• Preserve the 12-second overlap and zero-silence invariant regardless of the creative treatment.

Reliability

• Keep the incoming deck moving before the crossfade so a late command cannot create a gap.
• If playback is unexpectedly stopped, restore audio immediately from a verified staged deck, then rebuild the idle deck.
• After each transition, verify that the incoming deck is playing, the crossfader points to it, and the fixed EQ and volume remain applied.
