When to activate

You are crafting cold outreach (email, LinkedIn, or call script) and need to select which framework maximizes reply rate and conversation quality for a specific prospect. Decision point: you have their name, title, company, and one signal (trigger event, peer behavior, industry trend, or pain point indicator).

When NOT to use

• After you already have a response or ongoing conversation — use reply frameworks instead
• Warm intros or referral-driven outreach — use relationship-building language instead
• Prospecting into accounts where you have no signal whatsoever and no research data
• Outbound at scale without testing framework fit for your ICP first
• When the prospect has explicitly opted out or marked you as spam

Choose a framework based on signal strength and decision-maker type:

Framework 1: Do The Math

Formula: Specific number → business consequence → dollar/growth impact → ask

Structure (3–4 sentences):

1. Open with a concrete metric tied to their business ("Your 200-person team," "Your $50M ARR," "Your 10K+ monthly leads")
2. Calculate impact ("If just 10% improved X, that's $Y in added revenue")
3. State what blocks improvement (implied or explicit)
4. Soft ask for conversation

Works best for: Finance-minded buyers (CFOs, Finance Directors, COOs), competitive industries (SaaS, logistics, retail), performance-obsessed cultures

Trigger signals: Announced funding, hiring spree, revenue announcement, public performance miss, competitor fundraise

Works best for: Mid-market and enterprise, any role (triggers bypass seniority), transactional sales cycles (3–6 months)

Tone: timely, direct, zero context needed.

Structure (4 sentences):

2. Describe what they're doing (specific, not vague)
3. Contrast with target's current approach (status quo)
4. Imply competitive disadvantage or lost opportunity
5. Ask for chat

Works best for: Directors, VPs, Chief Revenue Officers, competitive markets (SaaS, B2B services, fintech)

Trigger signals: Analyst report naming competitors, industry conference, earnings call mentioning competitive pressure, article about competitor innovation

Tone: peer-to-peer insight, not FUD. Specific, not generic.

3. State no conclusion — let them draw it
4. Soft ask for context exchange

Framework 5: Leader Responsibilities

Formula: Name what they're measured on → identify risk/opportunity in that metric → position solution as lever

Structure (4 sentences):

1. Identify their title and core KPI (pipeline, CAC, churn, win rate, quota attainment, forecast accuracy)
2. Surface a trend or gap in that KPI
3. Position your solution as a lever to move it
4. Ask for context conversation

Works best for: VPs, Directors, C-suite, sales/revenue-focused roles (CRO, VP Sales, VP Customer Success, CFO), high-ASP deals

Trigger signals: Analyst report, earnings call, board meeting (inferred from public info), team expansion in that function

Formula: Lead with a resource, insight, or help that benefits them regardless of buying → ask for context conversation after

Structure (3–4 sentences):

1. Identify a specific friction point in their role/industry
2. Offer a concrete, no-strings resource (template, script, data, intro, analysis)
3. Deliver it immediately (attachment, link, or offer to send)
4. Ask for brief context conversation to understand if a broader fit exists

Works best for: Long sales cycles (12+ months), intent-to-build trust, any seniority, relationship-focused deals, vertical expertise plays

Trigger signals: Industry trend requiring new tooling, role transition (new hire), public expansion, team scaling

Framework Selection Logic:

• The funding is the trigger event (Short Trigger domain)

When to Test

A/B test frameworks at 50-email cohorts:

• Weeks 1–2: Pick one framework, send to 50 prospects in same segment
• Measure: Reply rate, reply quality (qualified vs. noise), time-to-first-response
• Iterate: If reply rate <5%, switch framework; if >10%, double down
• Lock in: Once one framework hits 10%+ reply rate in your ICP, use as default; test others in lower-priority segments
